Adrian looked at me with disappointment written all over his face.

“When you act this aggressive, I honestly don’t know whether I should take you to New York at all.”

With that, he locked the door and left with Sienna.

By then, Nellie had developed a high fever.

Adrian’s mother froze.

She grabbed the mug beside her and hurled it at me.

“You’re lying! You bitch. You’re the one who was abandoned.”

The mug smashed in front of me, scattering shards everywhere.

I picked up Nellie and carried her back to the small room.

Nellie curled into my arms, her eyes misty.
