He Said Don’t Wait, So I Married Someone Else Chapter 28

The date stamp on the video was from two weeks before our disastrous trip to Vegas.
“Suborning perjury is a felony in South Carolina, Garrett,” Noah said, his voice dangerously level. “I’m sure your lawyers have mentioned that. This video, combined with the threats you just made to Maya, is more than enough to land you and your two ‘friends’ in a world of trouble.”
Garrett’s face went ashen.
Noah wasn’t finished. He swiped to another screen. “And this.”
It was a screenshot of my texts to Garrett. On the morning we were supposed to get married, I had sent him one last message.
*Happy birthday, Garrett. I can’t wait to be your wife.*
“The woman you’re claiming was ‘emotionally distraught and incoherent’ took the time to calmly wish you a happy birthday on the very day you abandoned her.” A cruel smile twisted Noah’s lips. “Who do you think a judge is going to believe?”
Garrett was frozen, staring at Noah as if he were the devil himself.
“Now,” Noah said, his voice stripped of all warmth, filled with an authority that could not be questioned, “you are going to withdraw this pathetic annulment petition. Then you are going to call your two friends and inform them that if I hear one more slanderous word about Maya, I will make sure their little performance gets them disbarred from polite society in this town for the rest of their lives. Understood?”
