He Ran to Save Her from Being Erased, Not Knowing He Erased Himself from Me Chapter 16

Nolan left.

All the relatives were confused and stunned, not understanding what just happened.

I didn’t explain. I went alone to Westbrook University.

On the field, I saw Julian walking aimlessly.

He always did this. In his free time, he liked to walk the field. Back in the day, a lot of girls would loiter

around hoping to run into him.

I walked toward him. He didn’t notice me even when I was right behind him.

I was about to tap his shoulder when his phone rang. A video call.

His parents were on the screen.

“Julian, when are you coming home? You need to be here for the green card paperwork.” His father sounded

anxious.

His mother jumped in. “Honey, just come back. I met this lovely girl at the country club. She’s a pediatric

resident. Very sweet.”

Julian smiled. “I’m not in a rush. It’s been years since I visited campus. I want to look around.”

“You’ve been ‘looking around’ for two weeks,” his father said flatly.

“Julian, you’re thirty years old. You’ve never had a girlfriend. You never talk about anyone. I’m not saying anything’s wrong with that, but your mother and I are starting to wonder.”

I almost died laughing.

So even Julian got nagged about getting married.

“Mom, Dad, don’t overthink it. I’ll come back soon.” Julian sounded helpless.

He hung up and started walking again.

I jumped out at him. “Boo.”

Julian flinched. When he saw it was me, he laughed. “Debater Elara, which is scarier, humans or ghosts?”

“Stop. I’m not debating.”

I was done with him.

Julian smiled and nodded.

I didn’t waste time. I pulled out my phone to take a selfie with him.

Julian looked surprised. He actually tensed up.

“Why are you nervous? It’s just a photo.” I was annoyed.

“I don’t know. I never thought debater Elara would want a photo with me.” Julian was still tense.

But he was handsome, even when he was nervous.

I snapped a quick photo and posted it. [Together.]

Julian stared at my post in disbelief.

“Elara, are you serious?” He didn’t blink.

I nodded. “After all these years, you’re the only one who makes me feel anything.”

“What about Nolan?”

“Who’s that?”

I genuinely didn’t know.

Julian stared at me for a long moment, then immediately called his parents.

“Mom, Dad, I don’t want the green card. I like it here. I’m moving back. You’re always saying you want to

come home too. When I’m settled, I’ll come get you.”

Wow. He really fell hard.

This was one of Westbrook’s Twin Stars? The untouchable genius?

Well, well. He wasn’t so untouchable after all.

I went home satisfied.

Nolan was standing at my door, gloomy as hell.

He looked tense and brooding, head down, body trembling slightly.

I walked over. He looked up at me, his lips quivering. “Are you really with Julian now?”

“Yes.” I admitted openly.

“Elara, don’t you love me anymore? Just because I wanted to save Sierra’s life, you hate me that much?”

“Sorry, I don’t even know who you are. How could I love you?” I laid it out.

Nolan closed his eyes. His voice was strained, forced out through clenched teeth. “Fine. Fine. Don’t come to

regret this.”

He gave up completely and walked away without hesitating.

Then I heard shouting from his house. Mr. Hartley yelling. Mrs. Hartley crying.

Finally, an engine started. Nolan drove off with Sierra in his sports car.

Later, I saw Nolan’s post.

[I’m lucky to have you for the rest of my life.]

Two pictures. One of him and Sierra together. One of their marriage licenses.
