He Ran to Save Her from Being Erased, Not Knowing He Erased Himself from Me Chapter 01

He Ran to Save Her from Being Erased, Not Knowing He Erased Himself from Me Chapter 01

A girl spent seven years trying to win over my boyfriend. He had always known, and he couldn’t stand her.

But just as she was about to be punished for failing her mission, he lost his mind and rushed to save her, leaving me alone at our engagement party.

He said she had loved him for seven years and didn’t deserve that fate.

What he didn’t know was that the moment he walked out that door, my mission failed too. And my punishment was to forget him.

I stood on the engagement party stage in my white dress, my smile frozen in place, waiting for my fiancé, Nolan Hartley.

The laughter and chatter from our families and friends had already died down, replaced by confused whispers.

Because Nolan hadn’t come on stage yet.

He was right backstage. He had his suit on. He had the ring ready. But he just wouldn’t walk out.

The emcee went to fetch him three times, and was turned away each time.

“Miss Mitchell, Mr. Hartley has been on a video call with someone. He looks really upset. I don’t dare go back there again,” the emcee said with an awkward smile.

I clenched and unclenched my fingers, saying nothing.

Nolan was probably on a call with her.

Her name was Sierra Vance.

Nolan and I grew up together. We played, went to school, and ended up at the same university.

Everyone thought we were meant to be. All our family and friends were sure we would get married.

Nolan even swore he would never marry anyone else.

He ignored every other girl, including his freshman-year mentee, Sierra.

Sierra came into our lives seven years ago. Nolan and I were sophomores, and she was a freshman.

She came from a poor mountain town, dressed plainly with no makeup, yet not unfashionable. Her eyes were bright, like stars in the night sky.

She looked at Nolan with those bright eyes because he stood up for her when a store owner accused her of stealing.

But Nolan didn’t like her.

He didn’t like the breakfast she brought every day, nor the water she offered after his games, nor the umbrella she held over him in the rain.

And he really didn’t like it when she acted hurt and said she was just trying to be grateful, nothing else.

For seven years, she claimed she wanted nothing more.

Even after graduation, she worked near our company just so she could run into him every day and steal a glance.

She really was persistent.

But Nolan was mine.

At least, before he came on stage, he was mine.
