Three years ago, Ethan was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease.

To his shock, it was Vivian Pierce, his boss’s daughter.

Ethan knew Vivian liked him.

Back at the company, she had made subtle advances toward him again and again, and he had

turned her down every time.

He never imagined she would love him so deeply that she would donate a kidney for him.

“Thank you, Vivian.” He walked shakily into the room, his eyes red as he thanked her. “Thank you for giving me one of your kidneys. I never thought you would go this far for me.”

“Vivian, from now on, whatever you need from me, I’ll do anything for you.”

Vivian froze for a few seconds before blushing and giving a quiet “okay.”

Ethan had been so overwhelmed with gratitude that he failed to notice the flash of surprise and

panic in Vivian’s eyes.

From then on, Ethan brought Vivian into his circle, introduced her to his friends, and protected her

at every turn.

For her sake, he had even thrown his own girlfriend to the wolves with his own hands.

And now he was being told it had all been a case of mistaken identity?

Vivian had not been the one who donated the kidney.

Ethan had no time to think. He immediately went to find the surgeon who had performed his

transplant.

After a great deal of effort, he finally obtained the donor file from back then.

The moment he saw the name “Harper Reed,” it felt as if lightning had struck him. The world spun

around him.

Everything he believed collapsed.

With trembling hands, Ethan took out his phone and called Harper.

He desperately needed the truth.

But he discovered that Harper had blocked his number.

Then he opened WhatsApp and found that she had blocked him there too.

In the end, frantic and desperate, he rushed to the Lancaster estate.

But security at the Lancaster estate was tight, and there was no way for him to get inside.

Several guards stopped him at the gate.

“Let me in!” Ethan shouted, overwhelmed with emotion. “I need to see Old Mr. Lancaster’s wife. I

have something to say to her!”

“Old Mr. Lancaster’s wife?”

The guards looked confused. “Old Mrs. Lancaster passed away three years ago. Old Mr. Lancaster

has been a widower ever since. He doesn’t have a wife.”

“Harper…” Ethan’s voice was raw. “I need to see Harper Lancaster!”

“Oh, you mean our Mrs. Lancaster.” The guard seemed to understand at last. “Mrs. Lancaster left the country today. She probably won’t be back for another six months.”
