He Only Sent Me Traffic Lights but Took Wedding Photos with Her Chapter 04

On moving day, Brooke brought a few guys over to help.

They were all broad-shouldered and fit. One of them had a cute dimple when he smiled.

Brooke leaned in and shoved her phone in my face. “Look at this post. Isn’t this Ethan’s side piece?”

I took the phone. My eyes landed on the screen.

The woman had her head resting against the man’s back. They were standing on a sunny beach promenade lined with palm trees.

The caption read: “Hubby says once the baby comes there’ll be no more couple time, so we’re squeezing in a getaway while my belly’s still small.”

Even though the guy was only shown from behind, I recognized him instantly.

It was Ethan.

So this was what he called a “business trip.”

He’d started taking them all the time these past six months.

Every single one had been a lie.

I nodded numbly.

Brooke snatched the phone back, furious. “Look at her posts! Every one is her bragging about how amazing her husband is.”

“Gifts, home-cooked meals, going to every prenatal appointment—he’s playing the perfect husband!”

“I can’t believe it. How does someone sweet-talk a pregnant mistress and then tell you he’s on a work trip?”

I forced a bitter smile. “I saw the photos on her phone. They even took wedding pictures. Guess I’m the mistress here.”

Brooke froze, speechless for a long moment.

I spotted one of the guys struggling with the massage chair and quickly went over to help.

I’d spent a fortune on that chair for Ethan back then.

Now it was mine.

I didn’t even notice my phone ringing when I stood up.

Brooke had the dimpled guy answer it.

After we loaded the massage chair into the car, I picked up the water bottle on the table.

My phone rang again. I answered without checking the caller ID, still swallowing a sip of water.

“Sophia Quinn! Who the hell was that guy?”

Ethan’s voice was so loud it hurt my ears.

Before I could respond, Brooke grabbed the phone.

“Anyway, he’s hotter and bigger than you!”

She hung up fast and blocked Ethan’s number in one smooth motion.

I stared at her in shock.

She dusted off her hands. “Girl, that’s how you handle trash like him!”

I let out a surprised laugh.

I remembered back in school, when other guys asked for my number.

Ethan’s face would go dark. He’d shut them down on the spot and warn me not to utter a single word to any other guy.

Once we started working, he took it even further, telling me I wasn’t allowed to attend any event where other men would be present.

That’s why I barely attended company dinners for years.

After all, my industry was heavily male-dominated.

But I didn’t care about his feelings anymore.

I turned to Brooke with a smile. “Let’s get everyone together for karaoke tonight.”

I was belting out songs with Brooke, mic in hand, when the private room door suddenly slammed open.

A black suitcase crashed to the floor with a heavy thud.
