He Only Sent Me Traffic Lights but Took Wedding Photos with Her Chapter 01

Ethan had seemed really busy lately.

He barely had time to type when replying to my messages.

He just sent emojis.

A green light meant “good,” while a red light meant “no.”

There was never a third option.

After work, I passed by his office building and asked if he wanted to grab some chicken noodle soup.

He sent back a green light.

While I was ordering, I noticed a pregnant girl smiling sweetly as she told the waitress, “The usual, please—no cilantro.”

The girl pulled out her phone to pay. But the next second, my smile froze.

I saw Ethan on her phone screen.

It was their wedding photo.

They were both beaming.

The chopsticks the restaurant owner was handing me dropped and clattered to the floor.

The girl looked over at the sound. “Are you okay, ma’am?”

“Let me get you a new pair.”

I took the spoon mechanically, my eyes locked on her phone screen. My voice came out dry and rough. “Is… that your husband?”

The girl smiled brightly, tilting her chin up with pride. “Right? He’s a total looker, isn’t he?” She tilted her chin up with pride. “You might think he looks like a player, but he’s actually incredibly devoted to me!”

Loyal?

My heart clenched like it was gripped by an icy hand. I couldn’t breathe.

He hadn’t touched me in the past six months.

Every time I tried to get close, he said he was too tired or buried in work. He always found a way to dodge.

I forced myself to stay calm, but my fingers wouldn’t stop shaking. “How… how many months along are you?”

The girl gently rubbed her belly, her face glowing with happiness. “Three months! My husband spoils me so much. He hired a doctor to come to the house for classes and bought a ton of parenting books. He probably knows more than I do now.”

Three months?

My mind went blank. A loud buzzing filled my ears.

That timeline matched the two-month business trip he’d taken.

No wonder I’d found a parenting book in his study. When I asked about it, he said his assistant grabbed the wrong one.

He had constantly promised to give me a stable home. Yet, behind my back, he had already started a family with someone else—he even had a child on the way.

I had been a complete fool, making excuses for his late nights and cold shoulders.

I had never once doubted him.

Her words felt like tiny needles, stabbing into my heart one after another.

An invisible net wrapped around me, squeezing the air from my lungs.

The girl tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

The diamond ring on her finger caught the light, flashing brightly.

It was the exact same style as the one hidden in his desk drawer.

“Are you married?” she asked.

My throat tightened. My voice came out barely above a whisper. “No.”

She blinked, her smile growing even sweeter. “You’ll understand this kind of happiness when you get married, ma’am. My husband can’t live without me. See? He’s calling again.”

She waved her phone at me as she spoke.

I only glanced at it, but it felt like a hammer slammed into my chest.

It was Ethan’s number.

She answered with a sweet smile. “Really? You’re not working late tonight?”

“Yeah, yeah! I’m right by your office.”

She hung up, waved her phone excitedly, and grinned at me with sparkling eyes. “My husband said he’s free tonight. He’s taking me to see that new movie everyone’s talking about!”

My blood turned to ice. A cold chill shot from my feet straight up my spine.

That was the movie I’d asked him about three times. He’d said he was too busy every single time.

It was the same one I’d texted him about this morning.

My fingers went numb. I could barely hold onto the bowl of soup.

He hadn’t been too busy. He’d just been spending his time with someone else.

I looked up and saw the girl running over to him, jumping into his arms.

He rubbed her hair affectionately and chuckled. “You’re about to be a mom and you’re still acting like a kid. Slow down or you’ll fall.”

She looked up at him with adoring eyes. “I can be your baby forever.”

Then she grabbed his hand and skipped away with him.

Any tiny bit of hope I had left shattered the moment I saw Ethan.

After they walked a bit, he suddenly paused like he’d remembered something.

He stopped, pulled out his phone.

A moment later, my phone buzzed.

“Don’t bother buying food. I’ll pack something home for you later.”

How rare. He actually sent me a message with so many words.

I thought about it, then replied with a green light.

I would treat him exactly how he used to treat me.
