He Left Me in the Snow for His First Love. So I Left His Marriage Chapter 08

I stopped and turned to look at her.

“Did you force Ethan to make me resign? Is that why he’s so cold to me now?” She took half a step closer. “Claire, how did you do it?”

I frowned.

“I didn’t do anything.”

“If you’re unhappy, go ask him yourself.”

She sneered.

“Why pretend?”

“I knew you weren’t simple. The woman who stole Ethan from me couldn’t possibly be innocent.”

My face went cold.

“You were the one who broke up with Ethan back then.”

“I never stole anything from anyone. Not then, and I don’t plan to now.”

She opened her mouth to speak, but I cut her off quickly.

“You, on the other hand, left without hesitation. Now that you regret it, you came back.”

“We both know exactly what you want. Don’t come act innocent in front of me.”

Her face went pale for a second. She wanted to argue, but no words came.

I looked into her eyes, lowering my voice with open threat.

“By the way, when you were overseas, didn’t you have a boyfriend?
The one who gave you that job opportunity.”

She went rigid.

“He got married last year. The wedding photos were pretty. Were you there?”

Her fingers crumpled the hem of her trench coat.

“You investigated me?”

“So what if I did?” I asked back.

After I saw the photos in the Slack chat of Ethan losing himself over her, I had gone through every channel I could to find out why they broke up.

Back then, Ethan’s business had been framed by someone and had run into problems.

Regulators questioned and investigated him, creating serious difficulties for the company. Everyone inside was on edge.

At that exact time, Olivia received an excellent job opportunity abroad.

She decided to leave and broke up with Ethan.

I also found out that during her time overseas, she had dated someone.

That person was the very man who had offered her that job abroad.

And when that man got married last year, the bride was already pregnant.

Olivia stared at me.

“Claire, you…”

“What about me?” I looked at her without expression. “I’m just curious. You left so decisively back then. Now that you’re back, is it because that man dumped you? Or because life overseas wasn’t as wonderful as you imagined?”

“Or was it because you realized Ethan had recovered, so you shamelessly came back to feed on the past?”

“Claire!” she shouted, raising her hand at me.

But the slap never landed.

A hand reached from behind me and seized her wrist hard.

The force was so strong it yanked her half a step forward.

Ethan’s voice came from behind me, low and cold.

“Olivia, what are you doing?”
