He Left Me Behind, So I Married Someone Else Chapter 14

“Nora…”

Adrian started after her, desperate to explain himself.

But Ethan stepped sideways and blocked his path.

“Adrian,” Ethan looked at him, his voice calm but firm. “What exactly are you doing here?”

“Get the fuck off!”

“I said no!”

Adrian stared at him, his eyes red.

“She’s my wife!”

His voice broke with anger.

“This is our Destination Wedding. Are you seriously not hearing me?”

“Oh, really?”

Ethan gave a cold laugh, without a trace of warmth.

“She arrived at Frostvale Mountain Town alone.”

“She wandered through the Night Market alone.”

“She stayed at an Airbnb alone.”

He looked straight at Adrian.

“And you?”

“You were busy walking around Briarwood Old Town with someone else.”

Ethan’s lips curled slightly.

“So this is what you call a Destination Wedding?”

“You two just doing your own thing?”

Adrian’s face went pale.

“Nora…”

He looked at her.

“Look,”

She stopped walking.

But she didn’t turn around.

“I didn’t go pick you up last night because Grace had stomach pain.”

“The hotel in Briarwood Old Town was old, and she was scared to stay there alone. I was just keeping her

company.”

“Nothing happened. I swear. You have to believe me-”

“I believe you.”

Adrian froze.

“You… you believe me?”

“Yes.”

A faint smile crossed her face.

“I believe you were never going to come for me.”

“That’s why I never even bought a return ticket.”

“What… what did you say?”

“You’ve always been like this.”

“Whenever she needs you, you run straight to her.”

Nora turned around.

The streetlight fell between them, casting a cold glow over the distance separating them.

“But Adrian…

Her voice was quiet.

“What about me?”

He opened his mouth.

But no words came out.

“I had nights when my stomach hurt too.”

“My fever reached 101.3°F in the middle of the night. I called a cab and went to the hospital alone.”

“I was scared too.”

“I stood alone in that dark hallway, waiting for you to come home.”

“There were countless times I needed you to show up.”

Her voice remained calm

“But you were never there.”

Adrian stood frozen.

He couldn’t argue

He had no answer.

All he could do was desperately explain.

“Nora… believe me.”

“If I didn’t want to marry you, I never would’ve come on this trip with you.”

“Grace showing up in Briarwood Old Town really was just a coincidence.”

“She followed me all the way to Briarwood Old Town….”

Nora smiled faintly.

“Was that really just a coincidence?”

“She was able to control every detail of our wedding.”

“So do you really expect me to believe you didn’t share our travel plans with her?”

Adrian fell silent.

After a long pause, he forced out:

“If you were upset that she got involved in our wedding, then we can have another one.”

“Can you please stop this?”

“I’m not upset.

Nora looked at him.

“I just…”

“I don’t need you anymore”

“That’s all.”

She turned around.

Taking Ethan’s hand, she walked deeper into the alley.

“Nora!”

Adrian shouted her name.

But he didn’t chase after her.

She never looked back.

At the end of the alley, she turned the corner.

And disappeared into the darkness.

Adrian stood there, staring at the empty corner where she had vanished.

Slowly, he crouched down, clutching his head.

His mind replayed only one sentence.

I don’t need you anymore.

That was all.

The alley was empty.

Leaving only him behind.

After that night, Adrian never saw Nora again.

Later, he heard that she had moved to another city.

Changed her number.

Started a completely different life.

Later, he heard that she and Ethan had opened a small shop together in a snowy town.

And sometimes, he still thought about that afternoon.

When she had asked him:

“Was Briarwood Old Town fun?”

Back then, he had answered:

“It was okay.”

But now he finally understood what she had really meant.

She no longer needed to go there.

Because she had already reached the next stop in her life.
