Adrian ran through one street after another.

His breath turned into white mist in the freezing air.

The moment he turned the corner, he stopped.

At the end of the alley, outside the Hot Springs resort, two people stood there.

Nora had her back to him.

She wore a cream-colored coat, a thick scarf wrapped tightly around her neck.

Beside her stood a man in a black coat, his hands tucked into his pockets as he lowered his head and spoke

softly to her.

Then Adrian saw it.

Nora reached out her hand.

And the man took it.

Adrian stood there, completely frozen.

The streetlight above him cast a pale glow.

His shadow curled beneath his feet.

That man…

It really was Ethan.

The Ethan who had chased Nora eighteen times back in college.

The Ethan who had grinned smugly in the wedding photos from Ryan’s Status.

Ethan looked up and noticed him.

Then he lowered his head and said something to Nora.

Nora turned around.

Across the twenty-meter-long alley, the streetlights stretched into the distance, their dim yellow glow falling between them.

For a moment, Adrian forgot how to move.

“Nora…”

When he called her name, his voice came out hoarse.

But there was barely any surprise in her eyes.

“What are you doing here?”

Adrian froze.

What was he doing here?

He came to-

He didn’t even know.

Did he come to ask why she blocked him?

Did he come to demand an explanation for how his wife could marry someone else?

Did he come to tell her how long it had taken him to find her?

His eyes fell on the hand she was holding with Ethan.

“Nora… what does this mean?”

“You saw it yourself, didn’t you?”

Her voice remained calm.

“I’m married.”

Adrian stood there, his mind going completely blank.

“What the hell are you talking about? Have you lost your damn mind?”

“So many people knew about this Destination Wedding. Both our families, our friends… everyone knew.”

He stepped forward, forcing down the anger burning in his chest.

“And now you just casually married someone else?”

“If I had known you were going to do something like this, I never should’ve agreed to this ridiculous

Destination Wedding in the first place!”

His voice grew sharper.

“All because you missed your stop and I didn’t come pick you up?”

“Nora, do you seriously not understand how humiliating this is?”

“Or are you pretending you don’t?”

“Everyone knows about this now. Where exactly does that leave me?”

Nora let out a soft laugh.

“Where does that leave you?”

She repeated his words quietly.

“Did you ever ask me, Adrian?”

He froze.

“From beginning to end…”

“Did you ask me even once?”

She looked at him calmly.

“You didn’t know what kind of wedding I wanted.”

“You didn’t know why I was angry.”

“You didn’t know why I missed my stop.”

“You didn’t know where I spent last night.”

She paused.

“You knew nothing. Not really.”

Then she turned around, took Ethan’s hand, and walked deeper into the alley.

Adrian opened his mouth.

But no words came out.

He did know.

He knew.

He just…

He knew Grace was different to him.

But it came from the guilt he had carried since high school.

Back then, their parents had pressured them and forced them apart.

And Adrian had always felt like he owed her something.

But he knew that wasn’t love.

If he had truly loved her….

He would have gone after her once he was older and mature enough.

He wouldn’t have waited until now.

The person he loved was Nora.

From college until today, it had always been Nora.

It was just that they had been together for too long.

So long that he believed she would always stay.

So long that he started taking everything she did for granted.

Taking her patience for granted.

Taking her waiting for granted.

She was the one closest to him.

He thought she didn’t need those little acts of care.

But he forgot one thing-
