He Hated My Type, Now He’s Begging Chapter 07

He Hated My Type, Now He’s Begging Chapter 07

Harrison learned my schedule fast. He’d show up for my morning runs, pick me up after class, slipping seamlessly into the boyfriend role.

He treated it like we were already official.

And from that point on, we became a regular sight all over campus.

After a few days, he seemed surprised by how well we clicked. Same taste in movies. Same workout habits. Same books.

I could keep up with anything he threw at me.

He talked about Serena a lot, and made sure to emphasize they weren’t blood-related.

The shipping chat went into meltdown.

In the original, he’d only explained the step-sibling situation after he and Serena were already together. Till then, even his dormmates thought they were biological.

He said, “If I bring up something she doesn’t know, she gets annoyed. She was pretty sheltered growing up.”

“We’re a blended family. I always wanted a sister, so I took her out a lot. Kind of making up for lost time.”

“Last time I tried to teach her to ski, she wiped out hard and never went with me again.”

He showed me photos.

“I’ll take you next time,” he added. “I figured you weren’t into sports either. She can’t even run half a lap before quitting.”

I smiled politely. “Cute shots.”

Harrison caught himself mentioning her too much and scratched his nose.

I always said nice things about Serena in front of him. Kept the sibling narrative clean.

But if he brought up other girls? I’d frown just a little.

He wasn’t mature enough to hide his curiosity. Sometimes he’d bring up other girls on purpose, just to gauge my reaction.

Finally, he asked, “You don’t mind that Serena and I were close before?”

I gave him a puzzled look, keeping my voice cool. “You’re siblings. I can’t be jealous over that.”

“Besides, we’re not even official. That’d be crossing a line.”

We’d been so consistently paired up that everyone assumed we were dating, even without an announcement.

Harrison blinked. Not official?

We’d done everything but… What else was he supposed to do?

He pressed his lips together, clearly annoyed.

When he got like this, I knew how to handle it. I gave him a few soft words, watched his mood lift.

The gifts started rolling in: eight dresses and three bags in three days.

I squeezed his hand, let my gaze linger until he got flustered. “But I’ve only ever kissed you. You’re different from them.”

He nodded, proud, and introduced me to his inner circle.

In front of them, he grabbed my phone and deleted every contact from the sketchy guys who’d hit on me. He also cornered a few people and put an end to all the garbage rumors floating around about me.

Afterward, he was practically glowing, so much so that one of his friends teased, “You look like you’re planning a wedding, man.”

“Used to have your stepsister trailing you everywhere… We thought that was gonna be the endgame.”

Harrison shot him a death glare, then checked my expression nervously. “Don’t listen to him.”

I just nodded.

He stared at me intently for a long beat, confusion and unease flickering across his face.

The chat’s shipping fans clung to hope:

[Why is he Googling why your girlfriend never gets jealous Imao]

[He’s posting threads asking why she doesn’t care! He’s trying to show off how loved he is and everyone’s roasting him.]

[Dude’s even arguing with commenters in the thread]

[Feels like the male lead turned clingy after dating the NPC. He tried to provoke her a few times. Good thing she just raised an eyebrow… don’t mind me, just shipping.]

Nora and Gemma asked for updates, then declared, “We approve. Totally worth it.”

I smiled. “He chased me, actually.”

“We’re going public soon. I’ll take you both out when we do.”

Serena froze mid-step. Her eyes were red.

She texted Harrison: [You said you didn’t like her. You lied!]

Harrison had been waiting for Valentine’s Day to go public. Today was supposed to be it. But I’d told him I wanted the timing to be special, and today’s date didn’t feel right, so he’d held off.

When his phone lit up, he thought it was her. His face instantly fell, the faint soft smile fading away completely.

The message was hostile.

He typed back, curt: [That was then.]

[Don’t say anything stupid around her. I worked hard to get this.]

He couldn’t quite place it, but something felt off.

She’d never once checked his phone. Was she even that into him?

He went through and deleted his entire chat history with Serena.

Better safe than sorry. Even a stepsister could become ammo if the wrong people got hold of it.

Serena sent a voice message, her voice cracking: [I broke up with him.]

Harrison: [Got it.]

She stared at the screen, waiting for more. Nothing came.

Panic crept in. She texted her best friend Megan: [What do I do? He hates me now. He’s never been like this.]

[I did what he wanted. I ended it.]

Later, when the room cleared, Serena cornered me, voice low, “Did you tell Harrison something about me?”

I met her eyes evenly. “We talked about your past, yes.”

She went pale. Misread it completely.

Then her phone rang, and she bolted.

The chat noted: [Wish I had a friend like hers. Takes you to a bar after a breakup.]

[Harrison’s gonna flip and drag her back.]

[This plot’s stale… does she really need a new fling?]

[Whatever you say, NPC-stan. Wait. One tear and he folds.]

Harrison wasn’t the type to let his stepsister party with some random guys.

I timed it perfectly. Right when he’d be heading to find her, I casually texted: [Where are you?]

I could almost feel the guilt through the screen: [Handling something. Facetime in half an hour.]

I didn’t push.

When Harrison strode out of The Gilded Lily with Serena, she was leaning into him. Not quite touching, just testing.

“You’re not even drunk. Stand up straight.”

Serena’s pent-up frustration burst. “If I’m such a burden, why’d you come?!”

“You…” She choked. “Don’t tell me you never liked me.”

“You said you’d never be interested in her. So why go out with Lilith?!”

“I’ll admit it. I like you. I don’t want you with anyone else. Fine, I lose.”

Harrison went still.

Then his eyes lifted, and landed on me standing across the street.
