He Gave Her a Wedding, So I Named My Gown Farewell Chapter 05

He Gave Her a Wedding, So I Named My Gown Farewell Chapter 05

I waited for my luggage beside the carousel.

The notifications finally stopped.

I opened my phone and skimmed through everything.

Joanna had sent the most messages.

Then Coco, my former boss, and a few friends back home.

I kept scrolling until I found the atelier director’s message.

I confirmed the pickup location with him.

Then I started from the bottom and checked the messages one by one.

First, I read the ones from my friends.

They were all saying roughly the same thing.

They asked what happened between Adrian and me and said he’d been looking for me through everyone.

After I told them Adrian and I had broken up, I kept scrolling.

Then came my former boss’s messages.

[Elena, did you not tell Adrian you were going abroad for the program? He suddenly came to the company looking for you. He looked out of his mind.]

[I told him you’d resigned a few days ago and said you were going overseas to develop your career. He said he had no idea. What happened between you two?]

[Listen to me. You two were almost married. Whatever it is, sit down and talk it out. You’ve compromised for all these years. One more time won’t hurt.]

It was exactly because I had compromised for so many years that he kept taking more and more.

He became greedy.

He became careless.

And I finally gathered enough disappointment to leave without looking back.

I replied to my former boss.

[Thank you for caring. I’m sorry for the trouble. Adrian and I have already broken up. If he comes to bother the company again, call the police.]

I scrolled up again.

Coco’s messages were next.

[Elena, Adrian is losing his mind looking for you. He just asked me where you went.]

[Obviously I didn’t tell him. I said I didn’t know. Seeing him running around in that suit made me so mad.]

[I told him about how you’ve been lately. His eyes were red from crying. He looked kind of pitiful.]

[But people who are pitiful usually earned it somehow. Elena, don’t go back.]

[By the way, did you make it to Milan?]

The corners of my mouth lifted.

At least my care for her hadn’t been wasted.

[I arrived. Please help me deal with him. I’ll send you a gift later. If he comes again, don’t bother with him.]

Last were Joanna’s messages.

The second I opened them, there were pages of text.

I found the top and started reading down.

[Elena, what did you say to Adrian? He saw your message and stopped the ceremony. Then he grabbed me and said he had to find you.]

[You broke up with him? What are you doing? It was just a fake wedding ceremony. Are you seriously making it this big?]

[I never knew you were this dramatic. So all that generosity and tolerance you showed Adrian was fake, wasn’t it?]

The next dozen messages were more of the same.

Fake concern, real accusation.

Then gradually, the tone in the chat changed.

[Elena, what’s wrong with you? Why did you block all my contacts?]

After that message, the rest were probably from Adrian.

[Why didn’t you tell me you were leaving the country? What is this really about?]

[Is it because I said I didn’t want long distance and you were afraid I’d hold back your future? You could’ve told me. I would’ve accepted it.]

Even now, he still didn’t know the real reason I left.

[I asked Coco. She told me a lot. She said you had been designing the main gown for our wedding. She said you tore up the draft because you cared that I was having a ceremony with Joanna. She also said your stomach hurt so badly that day you had to go to the hospital for an IV.]

[Why didn’t you tell me any of that?]

Didn’t I tell him?

I told him I wanted to marry him.

I told him I cared that he and Joanna were too close.

I told him my stomach hurt and I needed medicine.

But what was the point?

I wasn’t important at all.

He never cared.

After I got into the atelier director’s car, I replied to Joanna.

[Joanna, tell Adrian to stop bothering my friends. I broke up with him because I don’t want to be with him anymore. It has nothing to do with whether I study abroad.]

The second the message went through, a voice call popped up.

I hit decline.

Then I blocked Joanna too.
