He Gave Her a Wedding, So I Named My Gown Farewell Chapter 02

He Gave Her a Wedding, So I Named My Gown Farewell Chapter 02

I got up and went into the bedroom.

There was a black lace nightdress on the bed.

It had clearly been worn.

It wasn’t mine.

“Adrian, whose nightdress is this?”

“Joanna’s. After we checked out the restaurant this afternoon, she said she was sleepy, so I bought her a new nightdress and let her nap here. Wash it for her later. She’ll wear it next time she comes over.”

“Where did she sleep?”

“What do you mean, where? In our bed.”

“Why didn’t you let her sleep in the guest room?”

“Why would she sleep in the guest room? Joanna isn’t some outsider. She even knows the door code.”

I had lost count of how many of Joanna’s personal things had ended up in our home.

Adrian said she wasn’t an outsider.

If she wasn’t an outsider, then she was one of the owners.

So what was I?

“Isn’t it inappropriate for her to wear something that revealing in front of you?”

“What’s inappropriate about it? I saw her running around naked when we were kids. In my eyes, she’ll always be a little girl.”

Adrian and I were the same age.

Joanna was only one year younger than us.

In Adrian’s eyes, she was a little girl.

So what was I?

The tired old housekeeper?

I threw the nightdress into the washing machine on the balcony.

After my shower, I took a fresh pillow and blanket from the bedroom and went to the guest room.

Adrian saw me.

“What are you doing?”

“You get too loud when you play games at night. I’ll sleep in the guest room. It’s quieter.”

He stared at me for a moment, his expression unchanged.

“Fine. Sleep there.”

Right before I closed the guest room door, I heard Joanna’s voice coming from Adrian’s game chat.

The next day was Sunday.

I had just gotten up when Adrian was already putting on his shoes to leave.

“Where are you going so early?”

“Joanna said last night that she wanted croissants from the bakery by our building. I’m going to buy some and take them to her.”

I glanced at the empty dining table.

“Can’t she come here and eat?”

“It’s the weekend. Let her sleep in. I’ll just bring them over.”

I didn’t want to argue anymore.

It was pointless.

“Then stop by the pharmacy on your way back and get my stomach medicine. We’re out, and I didn’t get to take any last night.”

“Okay. I’ll buy it. I’ll be back soon.”

He left.

I started packing my things.

After some time, my stomach began to ache.

I checked the time.

Three hours had passed since Adrian left.

I called him.

No answer.

I called again.

No answer.

The pain in my stomach grew sharper.

On the third call, he finally picked up.

It was noisy on the other end.

“Where are you?”

“Joanna said she wanted to go to an amusement park, so we came here.”

“You said you’d buy my medicine. My stomach is starting to hurt.”

“Is it bad?”

“It’s manageable.”

“Then wait a bit. I’ll order delivery for you.”

“Okay.”

After the call ended, another hour passed.

My stomach hurt so badly that cold sweat broke across my forehead.

I called Adrian again.

“Where’s the medicine?”

“What medicine?”

We both fell silent for a few seconds.

Then he suddenly remembered.

“Oh, right. I forgot. Sorry, sorry. Wait a little longer.”

Before I could answer, Joanna’s excited voice came through the line.

“Adrian, stop talking on the phone. It’s almost our turn.”

Adrian answered Joanna, then spoke to me.

“I have to go. After we finish this ride, I’ll order it for you. If it hurts that much, take some ibuprofen first.”

“I…”

Before I could finish, the call cut off.

Pain churned through my stomach.

I forced myself to walk to the medicine cabinet.

The ibuprofen was expired.

I called Coco, the apprentice from my studio, and asked her to come over and take me to the hospital.

I lay on the hospital bed with an IV in my arm.

The attending doctor stood beside me and kept scolding me.

“Don’t you know you can’t delay medication with your stomach condition?”

“If you keep letting it hurt like this, are you waiting for a perforation?”

I nodded again and again.

“I know. I’ve just been too busy lately. I forgot.”

“I remember you have a boyfriend. When you’re busy, you need to have him remind you.”

“It’s fine. I shouldn’t bother other people with something like taking medicine.”

Right.

I wouldn’t bother him again.

The phone in my hand buzzed.

I opened the message.

It was from the director of the Milan bridal atelier.

[You’re sure you’re coming, right? Don’t change your mind at the last minute.]

I looked at the IV taped to my left hand.

Then I replied with two words.

[I’m sure.]
