He Delayed My Delivery for His Widow’s Son? Meet the Veyron Heiress! Chapter 06By Novel7s / June 4, 2026 He Delayed My Delivery for His Widow’s Son? Meet the Veyron Heiress! Chapter 06The dummy was almost perfect — silicone skin, body-temperature sensors, blood bags, torn wounds, even the color of fingers after they went cold.It was placed inside a refrigerated drawer in the Rosetti Hospital morgue. No one would suspect a thing.I sat in the surveillance room, watching the screens. My father sat beside me, one hand covering the back of mine the entire time.“Do you regret marrying Nikolai?”I pulled at the corner of my mouth.“At least I finally saw human nature clearly.”On the screen, Nikolai came out of the third-floor delivery suite holding a swaddled infant, smiling as if he had won the lottery.Isadora was wheeled out behind him — exhausted, but still wearing the smile of a victor.Aldo Rosetti came forward on his cane, staggering. The moment he looked at the baby in the blanket, he burst into tears on the spot.“It’s a boy…”“The Rosetti family finally has a boy…”“Our family has an heir.”Everyone gathered around that child.Laughing, congratulating, taking photos, murmuring excitedly. Not one person asked about me.Not one cared whether the other woman giving birth in the same building was still alive. Finally, a nurse spoke carefully. “Mr. Rosetti, your wife…”Nikolai looked as if he had only just remembered I existed. He blinked. “What about her?”The nurse lowered her voice. “Dr. Hale is still with her. There has been no update yet.”“I’ll go see.”Nikolai handed the baby to a nurse.Bianca immediately hurried after him. “Wait. I’m coming too.”The camera switched to the first floor.Dr. Hale sat collapsed outside the empty operating room, as if his soul had been drained from his body.Nikolai stepped out of the elevator.“Where is she?”Dr. Hale did not dare look at him. He only raised his hand and pointed toward the end of the corridor.Toward the morgue.Nikolai’s expression changed.“What does that mean?”“She… we couldn’t save her.”Dr. Hale’s voice was so choked it was barely audible.“She lost too much blood. We couldn’t do anything—”“The baby too…”Dead silence.Nikolai stood there as if someone had shot him head-on.Bianca was the first to react.“Nonsense. She was fine an hour ago.”Dr. Hale laughed bitterly, his eyes red.“She was not fine at all.”“She was locked in the basement, fully dilated, her water broken, lying in her own blood.”“When I found her, she was already barely holding on.”“I tried.”He covered his face and dropped to his knees.“God, I really tried…”Nikolai seized him by the collar and dragged him up.“Say that again.”“What happened to my wife?”Dr. Hale sobbed and shook his head.Nikolai let go and stumbled backward, his back hitting the wall.“Impossible…”“She was so healthy. How could she…”Bianca grabbed his arm. “Let me see.”She rushed into the morgue. The surveillance camera captured her pulling open the refrigerated drawer. The next second, she saw the “body.”That face was frozen in the last moment of agony. The sheet was soaked in blood. Her belly and legs were covered in a shocking red.Bianca stared blankly for several seconds, then covered her mouth and staggered back.“It’s her… God, it really is her…”Nikolai shoved her aside and walked to the drawer. On the surveillance screen, he stood there without moving — not even blinking.Bianca walked in nervously. “Nikolai…”He suddenly punched the wall.“Why?”“Why did no one save her?”“Why couldn’t she wait a little longer?”Dr. Hale stood in the doorway, his voice low as a whisper.“Your phone was off. No outsiders were allowed into the third-floor delivery area. I couldn’t get up there.”Nikolai whipped around, horror in his eyes.“So you just couldn’t get up there?”“It was only three floors!”“And you watched her die below?”Dr. Hale said nothing. His shoulders shook violently.Bianca stepped forward. “Don’t blame him. I told him to stay where he was.”“Isadora was in danger. I couldn’t let anyone be distracted.”A sharp slap cracked through the morgue.Bianca’s head snapped to the side. She touched her cheek, eyes wide. “You hit me?”“You locked her in the basement?”Nikolai’s voice was terrifyingly calm.Bianca’s eyes darted away. “I only made her hold on for a while.”“Hold on?”Nikolai broke completely.“That was my wife!”“That was my child!”“I told you to watch her, and you locked her in the basement?”Bianca started to cry, her voice shrill. “I did it for the family!”“Isadora gave birth to a son. She was giving birth to a daughter. You know which one mattered more!”“Grandfather said it himself — a boy inherits Rosetti. A girl is nothing!”Those words silenced Nikolai instantly. All his rage seemed to be doused by ice water, leaving only emptiness behind. He lowered his eyes to the “me” inside the drawer, and a delayed bewilderment finally appeared in his gaze.“An heir…”“So she could die for that.”No one answered.Only the hum of the refrigerated drawers remained in the morgue. And the broken, suppressed sobbing of someone who had realized too late.My father held my hand and asked quietly, “Is that enough?”I watched Nikolai’s devastated back beside the drawer.“Not yet.”“He hasn’t truly lost everything.”
