He Delayed My Delivery for His Widow’s Son? Meet the Veyron Heiress! Chapter 03

Dr. Hale completely broke down.

He rushed into the nurses’ station and yanked open cabinet after cabinet, almost tearing every drawer out.

Empty.

All empty.

Not even the most basic supplies remained — no clamps, no gauze, no oxytocin, no spare blood bags.

Nothing.

“Where are the medications? Where are the hemostatics? The oxytocin? Why is there nothing here?!”

A nurse lowered her head and whispered, “Everything was moved to the third floor.”

“Don Rosetti’s order. Tonight, all resources go to Miss Isadora first.”

Dr. Hale slammed his fist into a cabinet door, rattling the entire row.

His eyes were bloodshot, his voice choking. “I’m sorry… Mrs. Rosetti. I’m so sorry.”

“I can’t…”

His throat worked as if every word carried blood.

“I can’t do anything now.”

Bianca walked over slowly and patted his shoulder.

“Dr. Hale, relax.”

“She hasn’t delivered yet, has she? Once Isadora is done, we’ll naturally move the equipment back down.”

She glanced carelessly at my belly.

“Besides, even if she really gives birth, it’s only a girl. No real loss.”

“The Rosetti family doesn’t need another useless daughter.”

I stared at her — this girl I had treated like my own little sister for three years.

Through clenched teeth, I forced out two words.

“You monster.”

The smile vanished from Bianca’s face.

She leaned down, her hot breath brushing my ear.

“Curse me all you want.”

“Say whatever you like.”

“After you give birth, when you’re too weak to even speak, I’ll make sure you stay silent forever.”

“Then Isadora will become the new Donna.”

“As for you?”

She straightened and smiled again.

“For my brother’s sake, I might let you live. You can stay at the estate as a maid.”

Dr. Hale snapped, “Miss Bianca, this is murder!”

“Murder?”

Bianca looked as if she had heard a joke.

“Careful with your words, Doctor.”

“Women dying in childbirth is tragic, but it is not exactly rare.”

“Besides, this is our family matter. You’re only an employee. Don’t cross the line.”

She waved at the guards.

“Take Dr. Hale away to rest.”

Two guards immediately stepped forward, seized Dr. Hale by the arms, and dragged him toward the door.

Dr. Hale struggled desperately and shouted at me, “Mrs. Rosetti! Press the pressure points! Inner ankle, the web between thumb and index finger — they may stimulate contractions!”

“Don’t give up! Your baby still has a chance!”

His voice faded at the end of the corridor.

Bianca shut the door and turned back to me. She pulled out her phone and started a video call.

“Hey, Nikolai. Your wife is about to give birth. Want to watch?”

Nikolai’s face appeared on the screen. He was standing outside the third-floor delivery suite, doctors and nurses rushing back and forth behind him.

“Bianca, not now.”

“Isadora isn’t doing well. The baby’s heart rate is dropping.”

Bianca turned the camera toward me.

“Look how much blood she’s lost. Do you think she’ll die too?”

Nikolai glanced at me.

Half a second.

Then he looked away.

“Let her wait.”

“Once Isadora delivers, the doctors will go down.”

“Watch her. I can’t leave right now.”

The call ended.

Bianca shrugged and put the phone back into her pocket.

“You heard him.”

“Isadora is the person my brother cares about most right now.”

“You?”

She lowered her eyes to me, full of contempt.

“You’re just a vessel for childbirth.”

“If the vessel breaks, throw it away.”

I closed my eyes, refusing to let her hear my breathing fall apart.

My hand slowly slid behind my back, searching for the hidden device sewn inside my dress.

My father had given it to me.

“If anything ever happens, press this button,” he had told me.

Back then, I had laughed at him for being dramatic.

“Dad, Nikolai loves me. His family treats me well.”

God. I had been such a fool.

I pried open the protective cover with my fingernail.

Then I pressed the button.

No sound.

No light.

But I knew the signal had been sent.

My father had promised.

Once I pressed that button, Veyron family men would find me within thirty minutes.

But thirty minutes…

Could my child really survive that long?
