He Covered for His Fake Innocent Girl, I Sent Both to Prison Chapter 05

He Covered for His Fake Innocent Girl, I Sent Both to Prison Chapter 05

The moment I stepped into the wedding venue, every single gaze directed at me was dripping with mockery and unvarnished contempt.

Candy’s mother caught sight of me and spat straight at my feet, barking venomously, “You vile bitch! You’re the one who ruined my daughter! Why don’t you just go die, you miserable whore!”

She and a few other aggressive older relatives lunged forward, clawing and tearing at my clothes, hurled insult after insult, until the resort security personnel finally rushed over and pulled them off me.

I completely ignored their abuse, calmly straightened my clothes, and walked straight inside.

The ceremony was about to begin, and the room was packed with guests, alongside a swarm of media reporters.

I knew exactly what Marcus was trying to do—he wanted to use this high-profile event to legitimize his public statement and prove that he and Candy were completely innocent victims.

When Marcus saw me walk in, a look of smug, relaxed relief washed over his face, as if everything was going exactly according to his plan.

He walked up to me with practiced familiarity, reaching out to grab my hand. “See? If you had just been good and listened to me earlier, we wouldn’t have had to deal with last night’s mess, would we?”

“I already sent the brooch to a specialist for restoration. I promise it’ll be returned to you looking exactly the way it used to.”

He reached into his jacket, pulled out a sheet of paper, and handed it to me. “Just read this script when you go up there, and it’ll all be over before you know it. Once the wedding wraps up today, I’ll come straight back home to be with you, okay?”

“I’ll even buy you an international plane ticket so you can stay out of the country for three years. After three years, I’ll come back and marry you!”

I looked down at the paper. It was filled with a fabricated confession detailing how I was desperately consumed by unrequited love and had maliciously targeted Candy out of sheer jealousy.

If I actually read this aloud, I would permanently brand myself as a toxic, universally despised villain.

I ripped the paper to shreds and hurled the pieces right into his face.

The white fragments fluttered through the air, framing his suddenly distorted, ugly expression.

I marched up the steps to the main stage, gesturing to the AV staff member I had bribed well in advance to hit play on the backstage security footage.

Turning to face the crowd, I spoke clearly into the microphone: “Everyone! I did indeed come here today to clear the air!”

“But what I am about to clarify is exactly who the true monster is that took advantage of Candy Sweet!”

The second the words left my mouth, the video began to play on the massive screens.

The footage of Marcus and Candy wrapped tightly around each other, frantically bursting into the prop room, slammed into the retinas of everyone in the hall.

Before Marcus could even react or try to shut it down, the entire audience had already witnessed it.

The venue erupted into absolute chaos, the guests’ faces twisting into a kaleidoscope of shock and confusion.

“Wait, what?! Didn’t Marcus claim his ex hired thugs to assault her? Didn’t he say he only took the blame to protect her? Don’t tell me he actually committed such a disgusting crime?!”

“Oh my God! If he really assaulted her, why the hell is Candy still willing to marry him? Unless it’s fake… unless the two of them are actually…”

“Oh, absolutely! Look at how tightly she’s wrapped around him in that video! She’s clearly a willing participant!”

A collective wave of realization washed over the crowd, their expressions turning deeply judgmental and mocking.

The university board members sitting at the VIP tables looked physically ill, their faces turning green as the dean slammed his hand onto the table.

“What in the hell is going on here?! Give us an explanation right now, Marcus! You explicitly told us you were entirely innocent!”

“You claimed Ms. Vance did this out of sheer jealousy! How do you explain this footage?!”

Marcus’s face turned an apocalyptic shade of pale, his voice tight with suppressed, furious rage as he glared at me.

“Valerie… did you really have to do this?”

“Did you really have to back me into a corner?!”

I looked down at him, letting out a cold, mocking scoff.

“You are truly pathetic.”

Marcus frowned, his jaw tightening. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“I said you’re pathetic,” I repeated, my eyes boring into his. “You don’t even have the slightest clue whose sins you’re taking the fall for.”

His expression darkened violently. “Stop talking out of your ass!”

Candy’s mother instantly charged up to the stage, pointing a trembling finger at me. “She forged it! She’s a complete lunatic! She’ll do any twisted thing just to ruin my daughter!”

Candy wept hysterically as she took a shaky step forward, her voice trembling like a leaf.

“Ms. Vance… why do you keep forcing my hand like this…?”

“Your possessiveness is completely out of control… you wouldn’t even let me be near Professor Logan…”

“I backed away over and over again, but you still refuse to let me go…” She gasped for air, sobbing uncontrollably.

“You literally hired thugs to assault me just to force me out of the university… I was already entirely ruined… and Professor Logan was kind enough to save me…”

“And now you’re fabricating fake videos just to destroy me…”

She looked up at me, her eyes filled with a hollow, theatrical despair.

“If that’s how it is…”

“If I die, will you finally leave me alone?!”

The moment the words left her mouth, she whirled around and hurled herself headfirst toward the solid concrete pillar.

“Candy!”

Marcus’s face twisted in sheer panic as he lunged forward, catching her in his arms just before impact.

Candy thrashed violently against his chest, screaming hysterically, “Don’t stop me… I can’t live like this anymore…”

“It’s all my fault… I shouldn’t even be alive…”

The entire venue fell into a state of total, frantic disorder.

The wavering glances of the crowd instantly whipped back to me, heavy with renewed suspicion and condemnation.

Marcus held Candy tightly against him, raising his head to glare at me, the warmth dying in his eyes until they were completely frozen over.

It was as if he had just made a definitive, unyielding decision.

“Valerie Vance.”

“I am officially done protecting you.”

His voice was dangerously low, vibrating with a suffocating, suppressed agony.

“Out of respect for our history, I won’t have you thrown in prison.”

“But given your current state, you clearly require immediate medical intervention.”

“You belong in a psychiatric facility, getting the long-term treatment you desperately need.”

An uproar erupted across the room.

I looked down at his self-righteous face and let out a sharp, mocking laugh.

“You are entirely delusional.”
