He Chose His Son Over His Mafia Queen Chapter 05

It took a long moment for the reality to sink in, and Matteo actually let out a dry, infuriated laugh.

He ran a hand through his hair and slammed his phone onto the floor

He hadn’t completely lost his shit like this since that night six years ago.

Gasping for air, he fought to bring his breathing back under control.

He headed toward the master bedroom to grab his car keys.

Before he could open the door, he heard Marco’s voice from inside.

The six-year-old could no longer hide his pain, sobbing as he clung to his mother.

“Mommy, can we please not do this anymore? Can you stop making me get hurt on purpose? My leg hurts so, so bad…”

Matteo’s hand froze on the doorknob.

Inside, Sofia coldly pushed the boy away, devoid of the motherly warmth she had displayed just minutes ago.

“If you can’t even handle this, how are you ever going to run the family estate?” she hissed.

Marco rubbed his bloodshot eyes.

“But Mommy, last time you made me slice my arm just to lure Papa away from Auntie Freya. It hurt so

much. You promised that was the last time…”

Sofia pinched his ear hard.

“A few hours of playing the victim buys us a lifetime ticket to the top one percent. Do the math! I raised you for six years. It’s about time you paid me back!”

Marco whimpered, “But…”

“Do you really want to watch your mother get locked out of this house forever?!” Sofia snapped.

“Your house?” Matteo let out a cold sneer, throwing the door open.

“This is my wife’s and my home. Since when did it become yours?”

Sofia whipped her head around, her face instantly turning ghostly white.

Matteo stepped closer, his voice laced with pure venom.

“You have some nerve, Sofia. Using my own son to deceive me? Do I look that gullible to you? Did you think you could insult my intelligence over and over again?”

Sofia shook her head frantically..

“No! Matteo, please let me explain! It’s not what you think. I… I did it all for our boy!”

“Enough,” Matteo said, looking at her with utter disgust.

“I actually thought you had changed over the last six years, Sofia. I thought you truly repented.”

She grabbed his sleeve, tears instantly spilling from her eyes. –

“Matteo, I had no choice back then! That man promised me a million dollars just to drug your drink and film a video! I was only twenty years old, I couldn’t resist that kind of temptation!”

“Is that so?” Matteo’s voice was dangerously low.

“Then why did you keep the baby? Why did you send Marco to me the exact moment Freya hit her three-month mark, dropping a bomb on my marriage? You wanted her to miscarry from the very beginning!”

Sofia bit her lip.

“No, I didn’t! I only kept Marco because I wanted a child of my own…”

“Liar!” Matteo barked, completely out of patience.

He massaged his temples. “I should have never gone soft on you. Women like you never change.”

Sofia stumbled backward, trembling.

Matteo kicked her out on the spot, grabbing his car keys and sprinting toward his vehicle.

He was twenty-six now, no longer the gullible teenager he used to be.

The acting was so cheap and obvious; he should have seen through it immediately.

Yet, he had repeatedly let his guard down for Sofia, all because of Marco.

Matteo choked back a desperate breath, slamming his foot harder on the gas pedal.

The last flight to New York hadn’t departed yet.

But he wasn’t a boy anymore. He didn’t know if he could still catch up to the girl he had loved since they

were teenagers.
