He Cheated, So I Drank the Love Potion Myself Chapter 28

After the interview ended, I walked out of the broadcast building.

I had just stepped down the stairs when a figure emerged from the nearby shadows, blocking my path.

It was Reed.

He looked as if he had been waiting there for a long time.

I didn’t stop, just tried to walk around him.

He moved sideways, blocking me again.

“Ophelia.” His voice was a little hoarse. “I’m sorry. I’ve thought about it a lot, and I feel like I owe you a proper apology.”

I stopped and looked up at him.

Suddenly, I found the whole situation laughable.

“An apology?”

“Reed, drop the act. Your apology is useless to me now.”

I saw a flash of astonishment in his eyes.

I continued:

“The person you owe the biggest apology to isn’t the me standing here today.”

“It’s the version of yourself from ten years ago, the one still living in that tiny Brooklyn apartment.”

“You betrayed the promises you made back then.”

“And you betrayed the man you were before you were ruined by money and status.”

“So save your apology for him.”

After saying that, I didn’t spare him another glance. I walked around him and got into the car waiting at the curb.

The night wind blew against my face. It felt good.

From that day on, Reed and I never had contact again.
