He Cheated, So I Drank the Love Potion Myself Chapter 16

Before I could say a word, my father’s hand clamped around my arm like an iron vise, hauling me up from the floor.

My mother stood beside him, spitting curses at me.

“Divorce? You dare to get a divorce?”

“Are you insane? Do you have any idea what you’re doing?”

“Coming behind our backs to file paperwork. You’ve gotten bold, haven’t you?”

“Just you wait until we get you home!”

My father’s grip was terrifyingly strong.

I struggled, but I couldn’t break free. He half-dragged, half-pulled me toward the exit.

When my mother turned to Reed, however, her expression changed in an instant.

She plastered on a smile that made me sick to my stomach.

“Reed, I am so sorry. Truly. Her mind hasn’t been right lately. The things she’s been saying and doing are completely out of line.”

“Don’t you worry. We’re taking her home right now. We’ll make her see sense. She absolutely will not bother you again. This divorce is not happening. It’s definitely not.”

As she spoke, she scurried after us.

My parents shoved me into the back seat of a car parked at the curb.

The door slammed shut, and the locks clicked.

I threw myself against the window, pounding on the glass.

In the rearview mirror, City Hall grew smaller and smaller.

Finally, it vanished completely.

I had been so close.

I had been so damn close.

What gave them the right to do this to me?
