He Cheated, So I Drank the Love Potion Myself Chapter 15

After I walked out of the building, the afternoon sunlight felt a little glaring.

But my heart felt light.

Even the air seemed fresher.

I didn’t waste any time. I contacted movers immediately.

Watching my boxes slowly fill up my new apartment, a warmth spread through my chest.

Tomorrow, I would be free.

I met up with my friend, got a new haircut, and bought a few new outfits.

I also bought the Chanel bag I had promised myself.

I wanted to meet my new life as a new version of myself.

The next day, I did my makeup and arrived at City Hall right on time.

Reed was leaning against the door of his car.

When he saw me, his eyes visibly widened for a second.

There was surprise in them, and a flicker of undisguised admiration.

He walked over, his tone still laced with that familiar condescension.

“Ophelia, you do clean up nice. You’d look even better in a white dress.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Who cares what you think?”

“You—”

Cut off, his expression immediately soured.

I ignored him and walked straight into City Hall.

When the clerk picked up the final stamp, I almost smiled.

Just then, a hand grabbed my hair from behind, yanking hard.

Pain exploded across my scalp, as if it were being torn from my skull.

The force was immense.

I was dragged backward, chair and all, until I crashed to the floor.

The back of my head hit the cold tile with a sickening thud.

My vision went black as my ears rang.

I struggled to open my eyes.

And saw my parents’ faces, twisted with rage.
