He Cheated, So I Drank the Love Potion Myself Chapter 08

By the time we reached the viewing spot, the snow was already ankle-deep.

The sky had gone completely black.

A small crowd stood scattered across the snowy ground.

Many had cameras with them, clearly hoping to go home with a prize-winning shot.

Time ticked by.

Near midnight, the sky remained stubbornly dark.

Instead of an aurora, a blizzard rolled in.

The stinging snow whipped against my face, and visibility dropped to near zero.

Many people, unable to endure the cold any longer, began packing up their equipment to leave.

The crowd thinned.

My friend and I stayed.

We huddled together, our eyes still fixed on that black sky.

We just wanted to wait a little longer.

The couple who had walked up with us were hugging tightly against the wind and snow.

When I saw them, I lifted my camera almost by instinct.

I adjusted the settings and framed the shot.

The shutter clicked softly, and I captured the moment.

They noticed my lens, and their cold-reddened faces broke into huge smiles. They even hammed it up for the camera, striking a pose.

And in that second, the sky changed.

As if a crack had split the darkness.

First one streak.

Then a second.

Just like that, a red aurora blazed to life above us.

Not the green you always see online, but a rare, vivid red.

The color was rich and deep, spreading across the sky like fire.

“Oh my God! It’s red!”

The couple shouted, so excited they started jumping up and down in the snow.

The boy fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.

He dropped to one knee in the deep snow, trying to get the ring out.

But his hands were frozen stiff inside his thick gloves. After several clumsy attempts, he still couldn’t manage it.
