First-Class Vacation for His Parents? His Secretary Had Other Plans Chapter 06

Seeing them like that broke my heart.

Just three days earlier, we’d been sharing a meal, laughing and talking.

How could they be gone just three days later?

“I’m so sorry, Emma.”

“You should go home and warn your husband. He needs to prepare himself.”

The mention of Ryan sent anger surging through me.

He still didn’t know it was his parents who’d died.

Just then, my friend Dr. Lily Morgan called.

“Emma, have you lost your mind? Your husband doesn’t have cancer. Why did you hand your company over to him?”

For a moment, I couldn’t process her words.

“What do you mean?”

“He doesn’t have cancer?”

It was only after I found out about Ryan’s supposed cancer that I’d given in to him.

“Exactly what I said. Your husband isn’t sick.”

“What?”

I was still reeling from my in-laws’ deaths, and now I had to face this.

“Now you’re worried?”

“Do you know why he and his secretary needed surgery?”

“They got a little too carried away in bed and got stuck together.”

“We had to operate to separate them.”

I stood frozen, the shock leaving me numb and hollow.

“Hello? Are you listening?”

“Do you see how stupid you’ve been?”

It took a long time to find my voice.

“Lily, are you sure he isn’t sick?”

She fell silent, finally realizing Ryan had lied to me.

“Your employees are already calling that secretary Mrs. Carter. He lied to get his hands on your company. You must see that.”

“She certainly doesn’t act like his secretary. She’s always hanging all over him, calling him her husband.”

My anger flared.

Chloe again. She’d killed my in-laws, and now she and Ryan wanted to take my company.

I was going to make them answer for it myself.

“Where are they now?”

“They said they were going home to recover. They wouldn’t stay at the hospital.”

“Don’t do anything rash, okay? Talk it through with him.”

I was well past calm.

I looked back at the bodies. Ryan was going to pay for this.

“Someone pick up the bodies.”

If he wouldn’t believe his parents were dead, I’d make him face it my way.

Let’s see how well he handled that.

On the security footage, I watched him bring Chloe into our home.

She had no clothes to change into, so she helped herself to my silk pajamas.

Then she went straight into my bedroom to play the devoted wife to my husband.

Wonderful. Let them enjoy being in love. Soon enough, they’d be at each other’s throats.

I brought my in-laws’ bodies home.

At the door, I told the men carrying the caskets to set them down.

Then I opened the door and walked in.

The living room looked completely different.

Chloe had only been there a few hours, and she’d already hired people to redecorate my home as if it were hers.

Just then, the two of them came downstairs.

They saw me, then the caskets behind me.

“Emma, have you lost your mind?”

“Why would you bring your parents’ bodies home?”
