Farewell, My Don Chapter 09

Farewell, My Don Chapter 09

Dominic stood under the harsh white lights of the hospital corridor, phone in hand, dialing her

number over and over.

“Sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off…”

“Sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off…”

The cold, mechanical female voice sounded like the cruelest sentence, repeatedly striking his

eardrums.

He hung up irritably, dialed again, hung up, and dialed once more.

His fingers trembled slightly from the force, and the back of his hand still bore the scabs from the cuts caused by the glass when the chandelier fell.

He wanted to explain.

He wanted to tell Genevieve that in that moment on the balcony, Amara was closer to him, her hand was outstretched, and it was just an instinctive, reflexive reaction.

By the time he reacted and wanted to grab her, she had already let go and fallen.

“Dominic…”

The door to the examination room opened, and Amara walked out. Her face was still a bit pale, and a small piece of gauze was wrapped around her right arm for a minor scratch.

She saw Dominic, her eyes reddened, and she immediately threw herself into his arms, her body trembling slightly.

“Dominic, I’m so scared… I thought I was going to die… Is Genevieve crazy? Did she want to kill me? Why did she try to pull me down with her…”

Dominic stiffened as she hugged him.

“Amara,” he looked at her, his voice low, “tell me the truth. At that time, what exactly happened?”

Amara froze for a moment. Hearing his questioning, her eyes flickered before filling with

aggrieved tears again.

“I–I just went to say a few words to her… and then she suddenly went crazy, grabbed my hand and jumped off the balcony!”

“I tried so hard to hold onto the railing, but she kept pulling me down! She just wanted to die with

me!”

Dominic didn’t speak; he just stared at her, his gaze as sharp as a knife, as if trying to see through

her.

“Amara, I’m asking you one more time, tell the truth.”

His voice was calm, yet it carried a heart–chilling coldness.

“Did she push you first, or did you say something, or even… do something first?”

Amara felt a wave of panic under his gaze and instinctively avoided his eyes, her tone weakening.

“I didn’t say anything…”

“Impossible. Based on my understanding of her, you must have done something first, right?”

“I didn’t!” Amara suddenly raised her voice, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, “She really started it first! She deliberately tried to pull me down to die together! Dominic, don’t you believe me? I was the one who almost died!”

Seeing Amara’s pale face, Dominic couldn’t help but rub his brow.

He shouldn’t doubt Amara.

They had grown up together; she was a bit spoiled, but she was kind–hearted.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible for him to still be unable to forget her.

It seemed it really was Genevieve’s problem.

In that case, why was she so angry?!

He turned to leave, intending to go back and ask Genevieve, when his phone vibrated.

It was a text.

Dominic clicked it, and the words on the screen stung his eyes like needles-

“Mr.Dominic Rizzo, your divorce proceedings with Ms.Genevieve Voss have been finalized. Please collect your divorce papers within three working days.”

He froze in place, his fingers tightening unconsciously, and the phone fell to the ground with a

“clack“.

Amara bent down to pick it up and saw the content on the screen.

A flash of joy quickly crossed her eyes, but she immediately masked it, putting on a worried expression: “Dominic, wh–what does this mean? She, she really divorced you?”

Dominic snatched the phone back and his fingers trembled as he dialed Genevieve’s number again.

Still powered off.

His head buzzed, and an ominous premonition suddenly seized him.

He called the butler, and the phone was picked up almost instantly.

“Is Madam home?” Dominic could hear his own voice shaking.

The butler hesitated for a moment on the other end, his voice a bit uncertain: “Sir, Madam went out

this afternoon.”

“Where did she go?”

“She didn’t say… she just dragged a very large suitcase and told me… that she and you were divorced, and that she wasn’t your Donna anymore, and told me to take care.”

Dominic felt as if something had exploded in his head with a “boom”

“Where did she go?” he practically roared.
