Farewell, My Don Chapter 08

Farewell, My Don Chapter 08

“You—!”

A venomous light flashed in Amara’s eyes.

“Drop dead” She suddenly reached out and shoved me hard.

I stumbled back, losing my balance and falling toward the edge of the balcony.

In that instant, survival instinct drove me to grab anything; my hand caught Amara’s wrist before she could pull it back.

“Ah—!”

We both screamed at the same time. Half my body hung over the railing, supported only by my grip on Amara’s wrist.

Amara gripped the railing with her free hand, terrified that she would fall over too.

“Help! Dominic! Help”

Amara shrieked, her voice sharp and piercing.

Guests swarmed toward the balcony, with Dominic rushing at the front.

When he saw the scene, his face instantly turned deathly pale.

“Dominic! Save me! I’m going to fall! Pull me up”

Amara sobbed, reaching out her free hand to him for help.

Dominic’s gaze darted between me and Amara.

In a split second, he made his choice.

He lunged forward and grabbed Amara’s outstretched hand.

“Genevieve, hold on! I’ll pull Amara up first and then save you”

he shouted, his voice trembling.

I looked at him, suddenly laughed, and let go of her wrist.

My body fell, the wind whistling past my ears.

I crashed heavily into the swimming pool below, sending up a massive spray of water.

The icy pool water submerged me instantly; I closed my eyes and lost consciousness.

When I woke up, I found myself lying in my own bed.

I had been changed into clean pajamas, and my wounds were bandaged.

The room was empty.

I picked up my phone and saw a text from Dominic:

“Genevieve, Amara was badly shaken. I need to take her to the hospital. Get some rest, I’ll explain everything when I get back. I’ll make it up to you.”

Make it up.

I stared at those words and smiled bitterly.

If you love someone, you don’t need to “make it up” to them.

I didn’t need his apologies, his gifts, or his empty promises.

I wanted nothing from him.

My phone rang again.

This time it was a text from the family court:

“Ms.Genevieve Voss, your divorce proceedings with Mr.Dominic Rizzo have been finalized. Please collect your divorce papers within three working days.”

The divorce papers… they were ready.

I held the phone and stared at the message for a long time.

Then, I let out a long, slow breath.

Releasing all the resentment, pain, struggle, and reluctance from this marriage.

I got out of bed and continued packing.

Not much was left; I had already packed most of my things.

I put the last few pieces of clothing into the suitcase and zipped it up.

Then I picked up my phone and booked a ticket to Europe.

The flight was scheduled to depart at 3:00 PM.

I dragged my suitcase downstairs. The butler saw me and was stunned. “Madam, you…”

“I’m leaving,” I said with a light smile. “Thank you for taking care of me all these years.”

“You’re leaving? But the master, he…”

“We are divorced,” I said. “From today on, I am no longer the Donna.”

I dragged my suitcase out of the villa and hailed a taxi to the family court.

When I picked up the divorce papers, I smiled—a genuine smile, the first in months.

It was over. Finally over.

I took a taxi to the airport and sat in the waiting area after checking in.

My phone rang; it was Dominic.

I didn’t answer.

He called again, and again.

Finally, I turned off the phone.

The boarding announcement sounded.

I stood up and dragged my suitcase toward the gate.

As the plane took off, I looked out the window, watching the city gradually recede.

Goodbye, Dominic.

Goodbye, the past.

From now on, I belong only to myself.

The plane pierced through the clouds, flying toward the sky. Toward my new life.
