Farewell, My Don Chapter 10

Farewell, My Don Chapter 10

Dominic hung up the phone and turned abruptly, rushing toward the hospital exit, his custom leather jacket straining against his broad shoulders.

Impossible.

How could she just leave?

She loved him more than her own life. How could she just… walk away?

“Dominic! Where on earth are you going?!” Amara’s shrill voice pierced through the hospital corridor, but he was deaf to it.

Only one thought consumed his mind—get home.

That message had to be fake, a prank, or… Genevieve was just throwing a tantrum to provoke him.

Yes, that had to be it.

He slammed on the gas, the tires letting out a piercing screech as the car bolted like a bullet out of the garage, weaving recklessly through the congested city traffic.

The past rushed back like a tide

Genevieve’s vacant, lifeless eyes as she fell from the balcony; the cold, ruthless words in the divorce text; the butler’s trembling voice saying she was “leaving“.

He gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles white, his jaw set in a savage, beast–like snarl.

Throughout the drive, he ignored every traffic rule, taking only twenty minutes to reach the villa.

He braked violently in front of the massive stone mansion, the tires leaving black streaks across the circular driveway.

He threw the car door open and stormed into the house, his boots echoing through the cavernous foyer.

“Genevieve!” he roared.

Only an echo replied.

He sprinted up the winding staircase, his hand gripping the railing, and kicked open the master

bedroom door.

The room was excessively clean.

Every trace of Genevieve was gone.

Her side of the walk–in closet was empty, leaving only the expensive gowns and custom suits he had bought her–ones she had never worn–hanging there like forgotten ghosts.

On her dressing table, nothing remained but a thin layer of dust.

On the nightstand, a gold ring lay silently beneath a document: it was her wedding ring.

Dominic gasped as he picked up the ring, the cold metal biting into his palm.

Resting on top was a crumpled note.

He froze, his body stiffening as if a stake had been driven through his heart.

His fingers trembled violently as he reached for the note, fear coiling in his gut like a venomous

snake.

He unfolded the paper, and the sharp, merciless words seared into his eyes:

[ Dominic,]

[I’m gone.]

[Thank you for these five years of companionship.]

[Though it was never a marriage, merely a dream I pursued bitterly and alone.]

[Now that the dream is shattered, I am leaving with it.]

[ Don’t come looking for me; I won’t be coming back.]

[I wish you and the woman you truly love happiness and joy from now on.]

[Genevieve]

Dominic’s fingers tightened around the note, the edges digging deep into his palm until blood seeped out, yet he felt no pain. He pulled out his phone and dialed her number over and over,

hearing the same mechanical voice each time:

“Sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off.”

He cursed and punched the wall, the drywall cracking under the force.

He scrolled through his contacts, calling every one of Genevieve’s friends: “Tell me where

Genevieve is. Now.”

No one knew. No one could reach her.

Finally, pushed to his limit, he dialed her office, his voice as cold as steel.

“Where is Genevieve Rizzo?” he bellowed. “I am Dominic Rizzo, her husband.”

A long, tense silence followed from the other end.

“I’m very sorry, Mr.Rizzo, but Ms. Voss has resigned. Her application for transfer to the European headquarters has been approved, and she left this afternoon.”

European headquarters.

Dominic’s heart tightened, a low growl erupting from his chest.

“Which city? Tell me the exact address. Now.”

“I’m afraid I cannot do that, Mr.Rizzo. Details of employee relocation are confidential.”

“Confidential?” Dominic let out a cold laugh, a sound so harsh and bitter it made the person on the

other end shiver.

“Do you know who I am? The Rizzo Family controls everything in this city. If you don’t give me her address within ten seconds, your company will be ashes by tonight. And you and your family will pay the price for it. Understand?”

The woman’s voice remained firm and uncompromising.

“Ms.Voss anticipated this situation, Mr.Rizzo. She explicitly told us that no one–especially you- is to know her whereabouts. She said if you threatened us, she would abandon the transfer and disappear forever. You would never find her.”

She paused, her voice softening slightly.

“She also asked me to pass this on to you: The power of Don Rizzo can control a kingdom, but it cannot control a heart that has already died.”

The line went dead, leaving only the dial tone in his ear.

Dominic hurled his phone across the room, watching it shatter against the wall.

He grabbed his coat and stormed out of the mansion with only one thought: find her.

He called his advisor, his voice terrifyingly calm.

“Lock down every airport, every port, every border crossing. No one leaves this city without my permission. Send every man we have to hunt for Genevieve Rizzo. I want her found. Now.”

They searched for days–blowing up a private airport where a flight matching her information was spotted, sealing off all roads and waterways, and interrogating everyone and any stranger who might have seen her.

Nothing.

Finally, Dominic tracked down Genevieve’s closest friend, Eva, outside a café in Little Italy.

Eva froze upon seeing him, a fierce expression crossing her face.

She tried to walk past him, but two of Dominic’s men blocked her path.

“Dominic,” she spat, her voice dripping with contempt, “what do you want? Come to finish breaking her heart?”

“Where is she?” he rasped, every trace of his usual arrogance gone. “Tell me where Genevieve is.”

Eva let out a sharp, cruel laugh.

“Don’t waste your energy; you’ll never find her.”

“You know,” he pressed, taking a step closer, his eyes full of desperation. “I know you know. Tell me. Please. I just want to see her. To talk to her.”

“Talk to her?” Eva snapped, shoving him away. “Talk about how you’ve realized you love her? Or talk about how you’re just angry because she’s not there to keep your sheets warm, cook for you, and worship you like a god? Ask yourself, Dominic. Can you even tell the difference between the two?”
