Don’t Flatter Yourself, I Won’t Haunt You After Prison Release Chapter 05

The luxury sports car stopped right in front of me.

Muddy water splashed all over my clothes. I didn’t care-I was already dirty in my work jumpsuit. I brushed it off and turned to leave.

The car turned and blocked my way again.

The window rolled down.

It was Thalyn.

Ten years had changed her.

I’d ruined her pretty, Moon-Goddess face with a knife. Plastic surgery helped, but faint scars still showed.

She wore big sunglasses, hiding most of her face. Her chin was sharp, her skin pale white.

A moonlight ring glinted on her long finger-cold, noble, expensive. She looked like a high-class noble lady.

Her nice clothes made my greasy jumpsuit look even worse.

“Long time no see, dear sister,” Thalyn said, her voice sharp.

I nodded. “Long time. You’re here for Amarok’s necklace? It’s right here. Take it.”

She ignored the necklace and took off her glasses, smiling coldly. “Amarok told me you’re a mechanic now. Married some border omega, had two worthless kids. No wonder you’re trying to climb back into high

society and hook an alpha.”

I stepped back, face cold. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. You still don’t have manners after all these

years.”

“You’re the shameless one!” she snarled, anger and venom in her eyes. “You planted nails to trick Amarok here! You’re trying to seduce him! You’re disgusting, Velvela!”

I sighed. “Amarok and I used to be together. We talked while I fixed his car. I talk to all my customers, not just him. You’re misunderstanding.”

Thalyn laughed coldly. “And all your customers fight with their mates afterward? I know exactly what you’re doing.”

“You’re pretending to be poor and pitiful because you know Amarok still cares about you. You want his money, his sympathy.”

“You gave back the necklace just to make him come see you again. You want more than money-you want my Luna title, don’t you?”

She looked me up and down with disgust, at my old shoes and dirty clothes. She spit on the ground next to

my feet.

“Look at yourself! You’re like a man, a middle-aged mess. You think fixing cars makes you good enough for

him? Dream on.”

Amarok had said almost the same thing. The couple thought alike.

I sneered. Thalyn thought I had no words left. She grew louder and meaner.

“Your whole family’s stupid! Even your dad, Wilderun’s alpha, is an idiot! Do you know how he got cancer? My mom ‘took care’ of him for years! He shouldn’t have called me a rogue’s daughter!”

“I guess you’re really stuck on that rogue label,” I said.

Thalyn exploded.

“Shut up! You and your slut mom were always losers to me and my mom! One little trick, and your mom and

her twin babies died! So funny!”

“A few tears, and Amarok made the council throw you in jail! You’re a rogue forever! Everyone mocked me

for being a rogue’s kid? Now your dead mom, you, and your twins are just stepping stones for rogues!”

A loud crash.

I slammed my hand on her car door.

I grabbed her by the collar and shoved her neck against the window frame.
