Divorced & Dying The Mafia Boss Regrets Everything Chapter 12

Finnegan watched Dominic stagger to his feet. A wave of sorrow rose inside him. He couldn’t help stepping forward to offer a hand, but Dominic brushed him off and walked unsteadily out the door, heading straight for Grace’s office.

Except for routine cleaning, Finnegan had left the office untouched since Grace left, everything exactly as it

had been.

He had thought she would come back after settling things with Dominic.

He had been too shallow.

Dominic crumpled the papers in his fist, the veins on his forehead bulging. In an instant, everything on the desk was swept to the floor. Then, as if all the air had gone out of him, he stumbled back two steps.

Way to go, Grace.

Leaning on his cane, Finnegan swallowed the heart medicine Henry handed him, then tapped the cane impatiently on the floor a few times. “Get him out of here. He’s giving me a headache.”

“Please, Miss Sienna.”

Sienna’s eyes were red with resentment. She glared at Finnegan and ran out the door.

“Dom… they… they’re going to throw me out… I don’t know what to do. I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I

was wrong…”

Sienna wrapped her arms tightly around Dominic’s waist, sobbing and pouring out her heart. He was too stunned to react. It wasn’t until she had been crying for a long time that he finally turned his head, still

dazed.

His eyes were wild, full of hatred.

“Good if she doesn’t come back. If she dies out there, at least she won’t be an eyesore.”

“You’d better not regret this for the rest of your life!” Finnegan heard him say as soon as he stepped out. He stopped short, leaning on his cane, looking at him in disbelief, and stalked off with big strides, furious.

“Don’t forget how much she sacrificed to get you out of that mess!”

“If you have any conscience left, bring her back now. Any treatment is better than just waiting to die. You managed to get the best resources for that woman–can’t you find a surgeon who can operate on Grace!?”

But Dominic still didn’t move. The cuts on his palm had stopped bleeding and now stung, but he refused to back down. “She chose this herself. Should I beg her to live? No way.”

Finnegan pressed his lips into a thin line, shook his head as if the man was beyond help, and strode away on

his cane.

Sienna was still clinging to him, crying, holding her belly, but Dominic seemed not to hear her at all. Finnegan’s words echoed in his head.

[Even barely alive, it’s better than just waiting to die.]

Would Grace really die?

That overbearing, arrogant woman who had turned his life upside down—would she actually die?

Dominic looked at the empty armchair where Grace used to sit.

On ordinary evenings, he would always see her there, the warm sunset light falling on her face and on the

coffee cup in her hand.

He had asked himself if he really couldn’t love Grace.

The answer used to be yes. Grace was crude, rude, and domineering–nothing about her appealed to him.

The funny thing was, now he wasn’t so sure.

Something glinted in the light among the mess he had swept to the floor. He pried Sienna’s hands from his waist, walked over, and crouched down to pick it up.

It was the plain gold wedding band.

The ring he had forced onto her finger again and again, only to yank it off and throw it away each time.

Now that no one was forcing him anymore, shouldn’t he be happy?

“My stomach hurts so much… Dom…”

Unable to bear his neglect, Sienna gritted her teeth and played the victim, trying to pull his attention back to

her.

Dominic pressed his temples and took a deep breath. “I’ll have someone take you home…

“But I want…”

“I’m busy, Sienna.”

Sienna clenched her fists, and where he couldn’t see, she shot a vicious glare at Grace’s seat. Her resentment

grew stronger.

She wished Grace would hurry up and die, so she wouldn’t come back to cause trouble!
