Betrayed Twice, I Pretended Amnesia To Take Revenge On My Alpha Mate And Sister Chapter 09

Betrayed Twice, I Pretended Amnesia To Take Revenge On My Alpha Mate And Sister Chapter 09

During our earlier sessions, she had noticed how deeply I depended on Clarence and tried to gently

warn me.

But I never listened.

Not until later, when I was hovering between life and death, did her words finally reach me.

Even then, what made me choose to live wasn’t hope.

It was revenge.

I wanted to survive so that the people who betrayed me would pay for everything they had done.

That was the thought I clung to as I forced myself back from the edge.

And the moment I opened my eyes in that hospital bed and saw Clarence’s panicked face, I knew exactly what to do.

He hated that the light he wanted had belonged to someone else first.

So I let that lucky light fall on him for a little while.

Just long enough to remind him, at the very last moment, that it had never truly been his–and then I took it away completely.

My revenge went smoothly.

Every time I used a recovered memory to make him do something painful or impossible, I watched him swallow his pride like bitter medicine.

But the satisfaction lasted only a second.

Then the emptiness returned.

It felt like some great wolf had torn open my chest, ripped out my heart, and stuffed the hollow with weightless straw.

At first, I didn’t understand why.

Then, when he asked me if I remembered anything good about him, I understood in one terrible

instant.

He hurt me because he loved me.

And I wanted to hurt him because once, I had loved him too.

We were just two people using the ruins of what we had, seeing who could break the other first.

I thought about it all night.

At dawn, when the first light swept across his sleeping face, there was nothing left inside me.

No love. No hatred. No desire to keep punishing him.

And once love and hate are both gone, revenge loses its meaning.

But Bethany was different.

I reached out to her in secret and asked if she wanted to make a bet–one that could put her with Clarence for good.

She looked at me warily. “I’ve hurt you so much. Why would you help me?”

I smiled. “Haven’t I always been helping you?”

Then she smiled too. “Haley, if you help me get the Luna title, I won’t be jealous of you anymore.”

She believed me.

She thought I wanted out, that I was using her as my escape route.

She still thought I was that pitiful she-wolf.

She still believed that whenever someone took something from me, all I would do was stand there

and ask why.

So I gave her a gift worthy of that mistake.

The moment I walked out of the banquet hall, I sent the evidence I had prepared–a detailed document of how she had twice destroyed her own sister’s mate relationships–to the mailing list of every Alpha and acquaintance across the packs.

My parents started calling almost immediately.

Thinking of all the years they had enabled Bethany, silenced me, hung up on me to protect her –I returned the favor.

I blocked every single one of their contacts.

I didn’t forget Gabriel either.

I sent the proof of his affair to his mother.

After the previous Alpha of Frostfall Pack cheated, his mother had nearly ended her own life.

She had despised unfaithful Alphas for as long as she lived.

I knew a reckoning was about to come down on him.

As for Clarence, what I left him was the thing he feared most:

Public humiliation.

By tomorrow, he wouldn’t just be an abandoned Alpha. He would be a joke in every pack across the

territory.

One by one, I had struck back at every person who had failed me.

When it was all done, the weight inside my chest finally lifted.

By the time the taxi reached the airport, my luggage had already been sent ahead.

I was at the gate when I heard someone call my name.

The voice was breathless, hoarse, like someone who had run for miles.

“Haley,” Clarence called out. “Every piece of your revenge–I accept all of it. Just… please don’t

go.”

In front of everyone, he dropped to his knees again, looking at me as if begging was the only thing

he had left.

Seeing how cheap his pride had become, I almost wanted to laugh.

There was no chance I would say yes.

But I said nothing at all.

I simply turned around and kept walking.

Some loves, once they die, become ghosts that haunt you for a lifetime.

But I had chosen to move forward, and my life would never belong to that ghost again.
