Betrayed On My Wedding Eve Chapter 27

My head was splitting.

Logic fighting feeling.

The children watched us argue.

Every one of them looked like they’d already given up.

The smallest ones huddled together, fingers intertwined, waiting for the final verdict.

I caved almost immediately.

They had fought with everything they had to get out of hell. We couldn’t send them back.

I breathed. Steadied.

“I’ll help you.

“Not just the contacts. I’m staying until every one of them is gone.”

Julian startled. “Absolutely not. It’s too dangerous.”

“So you get to face the danger alone?”

“If you don’t agree, I’ll go out there right now and tell them there are Hutu children in this building.”

He looked ready to combust.

“You. I never should have come to you!”

“Too late. You already pulled me in.”

He turned away, furious at himself.

I sighed. I put my arms around his neck and made him look at me.

“At least if the worst happens. We’ll be together.”

He recoiled. “Don’t say things like that! That’s not happening!”

I touched his face through the shield of my mask.

“Of course not.

“You promised we’d go see my mom together. Remember?”
