Betrayed and Sabotaged Before Vows Chapter 06 The Veil’s Devastating Unmask

“Since when have I suffered any facial injury?”

Lila’s complexion drained pale the instant I stepped out of the shadowed corner.

She’d just fed the whole ballroom a blatant lie about my damaged face to excuse the veiled stand-in, and I show up out of nowhere to shred every single excuse she made.

Moments earlier, she’d spun a tale for every guest that a facial scar forced me to wear a veil-yet here I stood, fully visible with no blemish in sight. Her fabricated cover story crumbled completely on the spot.

She scrambled over to my side in blind panic, fingers clamping tight around my wrist to drag me toward the venue exit. “Everyone, I’m truly sorry for this disruption! This man is my husband’s identical twin, and he’s only here to stir up pointless trouble. I’ll have on-site security escort him outside at once.”

As she wrenched my arm harshly, her hired personal bodyguards closed in and ringed us off.

I watched her frantic, desperate act and stretched into a cold, mocking grin. “Save the fake story. I’m Kael Mercer, the actual husband- I have no twin sibling whatsoever.”

“If you all want hard proof? Just tell the man up on stage to yank that fabric veil off his face, and every lie she told will be exposed instantly.”

I locked sharp, challenging eyes onto the veiled figure standing center stage. He glared back at me with unbridled fury burning in his pupils, yet he dared not lift the veil to reveal his face for even a split second.

Whispers rippled loud across the crowd, every guest picking up on the obvious contradiction unfolding

before them.

“If Ms. Hale’s story is true and this man down below is his identical twin, why won’t the groom remove his veil to clear up all this confusion?”

“Is it possible this man standing in front of us is the real groom meant for today’s ceremony?”

“I’ve crossed paths with Kael Mercer at dozens of elite corporate galas, and this man is his spitting image. I’ve never heard a single rumor about him having a twin brother.”

Resentment flickered sharp across Lila’s features, but she forced a shaky, hollow laugh to cobble her collapsing narrative back together.

“Haha everyone, this was just a lighthearted skit we planned to liven up the wedding reception atmosphere!”

“Since you’ve all caught onto our little bit, come here honey-let’s walk back down the decorated aisle to redo our entrance properly.”

She looped her arm tightly through mine, trying to rope me into fixing the catastrophic mess she’d created. She would get no such favor from me.

I let her cling to my wrist and drag me forward down the flower-adorned aisle, letting every guest soak in

her mounting, visible panic.

Watching her squirm in this crippling anxiety fills me with bitter relief; for the first time, she’s tasting a tiny fraction of all the agony she inflicted on me.

This shallow public humiliation still wasn’t enough to balance the scales. My gaze turned icy and dark

Compared to the endless shame and torment they’d put me through, this trivial scene was nothing at all.

The emcee crossed over and handed me a wireless handheld mic to recite the official wedding vows. I glanced at Lila’s deathly terrified face and curled my lips into a cold smirk.

“Good evening to every distinguished guest in attendance tonight. My name is Kael Mercer, and I am not the groom of this ceremony.”

“The man hiding beneath that thick veil up on the stage is the fake groom they pushed into place.”

“That man is Ethan, Lila’s adoptive brother.”

“First point: Lila and I have finalized all official divorce paperwork, we are legally separated for good.”

“Second point: I wish Lila and Ethan a miserable, tangled lifelong affair together.”

“I won’t waste breath wishing them a baby shower, considering they already conceived their illegitimate child long before this sham wedding was arranged.”

“Final point: Starting this very second, I sever all permanent ties with the entire Hale family and Hale Enterprises.

I ignored every shocked murmur erupting from the crowd and charged straight toward the veiled Ethan on stage.

Lila dove to snatch the abandoned microphone in a blind state of panic, her voice shrill and unsteady as she tried to discredit my words.

“Every single claim Kael just shouted is total fabrication-do not believe a word that comes out of his mouth!”

“He’s suffered a complete mental breakdown and lost all rationality. How could I ever pursue a romantic relationship with my own adoptive brother?”

Shock faded from the guests’ faces, replaced by deep doubt. They stared back and forth between Lila and me, sizing both of us up as they weighed our conflicting statements.

By that time, I’d already closed the gap and reached Ethan’s position onstage. The bodyguards sprinted to intercept me, yet they were far too slow to block my advance. I lunged forward and grabbed hold of his shoulders firmly.

A loud, mocking roar of laughter burst out of me as I addressed the entire ballroom.

“You’ll all learn the full truth in a heartbeat-whether I’m unhinged, or every word I spoke is 100% factual!”

I paid zero attention to Ethan’s wild, thrashing struggles as I reached up and tore the full fabric veil clean

his face in one brutal, swift tug.
