Betrayed After Getting Rich Overnight Chapter 08

Chapter 8 Online Hate Mob

I blocked them all over again.

But on the day I moved into my new place, they somehow managed to sneak into the building.

They just hauled all their luggage straight into my apartment like they owned the place.

Felicia acted like nothing was wrong and led everyone on a cheerful little tour, then started divvying up the bedrooms without missing a beat.

Felicia announced, “The master goes to Autumn. She’s got a ton of clothes, so that walk-in closet is perfect for her! The big sunny room goes to my precious grandson, and we’ll turn the one next to it into a study just for Timothy.”

She added with a smile, “Us old folks don’t need anything fancy. We’ll just take the smaller bedroom!”

Talk about shameless! These people had absolutely zero shame!

Not only did they barge in uninvited, but they claimed all four bedrooms without leaving me a single room!

When she noticed me staring at them coldly, Felicia put on this big, magnanimous act and reached for my hand.

Felicia said, “Summer, what happened before was all just a misunderstanding. We had no clue you’d won the lottery or gotten that settlement money. We were only tough on you because we wanted to push you to do better!”

She continued, “This place is way too big for just you anyway. Why don’t you sign it over to your sister? That way Timothy can go to a better school district. Weren’t you the one complaining about living in that storage closet? Well, Autumn’s being super generous and giving up the master bedroom for you. When you move back home, you can have it! Now go ahead and thank your sister!”

I was so angry I actually laughed.

I wasn’t gonna waste my breath arguing with these freeloaders anymore.

I yanked my hand away from Felicia and called building security to come up and throw everyone out.

I said firmly, “This is my home. Get out now, or I’m pressing charges for trespassing.”

Felicia let out a shrill scream, called me an ungrateful daughter, and lunged at me like she was about to hit me.

I pulled out my phone and dialed 911 right there.

I told the operator, “Someone broke into my apartment and is threatening to assault me. I need officers here immediately.”

Security and the police showed up within minutes.

Felicia dropped to the floor and started wailing dramatically, slapping her thighs and sobbing about how I was her daughter. She had every right to be here.

She screamed that if I kicked her out, she’d sue me for being an ungrateful child who refused to support her elderly parents.

I let out a cold laugh and shot back, “Fine! Go ahead and sue! Let’s have a judge decide exactly how ‘ungrateful’ I’ve been all these years. You’re not even old enough to legally require financial support from your kids yet. Let’s see what the court has to say about that.”

I added, “And even if they order me to pay, the legal minimum is like 800 bucks a month. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure every single penny gets deposited into your account right on time.”

Michael grabbed his chest like he was having a heart attack, but I called his bluff immediately.

I said flatly, “Dad, don’t even try that fake heart attack routine. A trip to the ER costs serious money, and I’m not paying a single cent. You can’t force me to, so guess who’ll be stuck with the bill in the end? You.”

He’d been about to collapse dramatically onto the floor. Still, after hearing that, he

wouldn’t work either. But an online hate mob could ruin someone’s life.

The scariest part was that they didn’t even need proof. All it took was slapping the ungrateful daughter” label on me, and suddenly, everyone on the internet became judge and jury, condemning me from their moral high ground.
