Betrayed After Getting Rich Overnight Chapter 09

Betrayed After Getting Rich Overnight Chapter 09

Chapter 9 Plot Twist

When that happened, I’d have no choice but to cave and hand over everything I owned.

But Autumn had miscalculated badly.

Sure, the internet had plenty of people ready to shame anyone who didn’t worship their parents. But there were just as many people out there who’d been bled dry by families that played favorites, people who’d suffered through years of unfair treatment and stayed silent because society told them good children don’t complain.

When the online backlash hit its peak, I launched my counterattack.

I created a new Twitter account. The username read “I’m the ungrateful daughter who won 10 million and kicked her parents out.”

I posted a massive thread laying out everything that had happened since I was eight years old, back when Michael and Felicia brought orphaned Autumn into our home, and my life became an afterthought.

I walked everyone through the whole story. Getting laid off from my job, winning the lottery, Autumn’s viral post calling me some “random annoying relative she barely knew,” coming home only to find myself locked out, being disowned by my own parents, and finally getting kicked to the curb like trash.

I wrote it all out in painful detail and backed up every single word with hard evidence.

I posted eight years of pay stubs, proof of my down payment on the house, and bank transfer records showing I’d sent home twenty thousand dollars every month without fail.

I included screenshots of holiday cash gifts to Michael and Felicia, medical bills I’d covered, and receipts for Timothy’s tuition payments year after year.

I added photos of the storage closet I’d been sleeping in at home, right next to pictures of the tiny room I rented in a shared apartment in the city where I worked.

Then came the financial breakdown that told the real story.

Total earnings over those years came to 2.4 million dollars. I’d given my family 2.1 million. I’d kept three hundred thousand for myself.

They spent twenty thousand dollars a month. I averaged three thousand.

For the grand finale, I posted screenshots from Autumn’s Instagram showing five straight years of luxury shopping hauls and designer bags, all while having exactly zero income.

Then I added the property transfer documents showing Michael and Felicia had signed the house over to her, along with bank records proving they’d been funneling every penny I sent them straight into her account each month.

I didn’t need to editorialize or plead my case. The receipts did all the talking.

People could see the truth for themselves and decide what was right and what was

wrong.

After I posted it, the whole internet went crazy.

The comments started flooding in. [Oh my god! What a plot twist! Thought she was ungrateful, turns out she’s totally the victim!]

[Two million dollars! If giving that much makes you a bad daughter, then there’s no such thing as a good kid anywhere!]

[That’s not an adopted daughter, that’s a straight-up vampire!]

[Are these parents blind or something? They’ve got this amazing biological daughter and instead of loving her, they bleed her dry to spoil some girl who isn’t even related to them!]

[Vampire’s too nice a word! They’re basically trying to wipe out their own bloodline! They didn’t adopt a daughter, they adopted their family’s executioner!]

[Anyone else notice the adopted daughter’s the one benefiting from everything but she’s been hiding behind the scenes this whole time? Creepy as hell when you think about it…]

[The real daughter did exactly the right thing! She needs to stay far away from these deluded parents and that bloodsucking sister, or they’ll drain her until there’s nothing left…]

One post from me, and I’d completely flipped the script.

Michael and Felicia got so much backlash that people threw rotten eggs and tomatoes at them every time they stepped outside. Strangers would get right in their faces and scream at them.

“These are the monster parents who sucked their real daughter dry just to pamper their adopted one! Anyone stuck with parents like you must have the worst karma in the universe!”

Autumn caught so much heat that people jumped her in the street multiple times, threw bags over her head, and beat her until her face was black and blue.

Even Timothy’s classmates stopped playing with him. They called him a vampire’s son and said he’d suck their blood too.

Autumn knew she couldn’t use Michael and Felicia to screw me over anymore, so she waited until they were out of town and sold the house right out from under them. She cleaned out everything valuable and disappeared.

Michael and Felicia were completely blindsided. That was when they finally saw Autumn for who she really was, but by then it was way too late.

After a bunch of back and forth, they tracked me down through the police.

Felicia threw herself at me, sobbing hysterically. “Summer, I was so wrong… I know I messed up… How was I supposed to know that bitch would turn out to be such an ungrateful snake.”

She cried, “She sold the house and took every penny we had. I’ve got nowhere else to turn. Please, just forgive me.”

I pulled out the screenshot my relatives had sent me ages ago. It was Felicia’s Instagram post saying Autumn was her one and only daughter from now on.

I stared at her coldly. “Mom, it’s too late. You brought her home when I was eight

and made me give up everything for her.

“The second you and Dad listened to Autumn’s bullshit and forced me to hand over my settlement money, then kicked me out, you’re not my parents.

Michael and Felicia seemed to age twenty years in an instant. Their shoulders sagged like someone had crushed them.

But I wasn’t going to feel sorry for them anymore.

After they left, they rented some tiny apartment and scraped by on their pension checks. The money was tight, but at least they were surviving.

A few months later, I heard some guy had scammed Autumn out of all the money from the house. She dragged Timothy back to Michael and Felicia’s place, begging them to take her in. They beat her half to death instead.

None of that was my problem anymore, though.

I opened a little shop of my own. Life was pretty good.
