Barren, Betrayed, But Backed By A Secret Billionaire Dad: I’ll Make Them Pay In Blood Chapter 10

There was no need to guess—it was definitely Adwan.

Sitting across from me, my uncle snatched the phone and unleashed a torrent of scolding before hanging up with a flourish.

“There, that felt good,” he said.

I couldn’t help but laugh.

On the way home from work, Hollis and I suddenly found our car cut off. In the blink of an eye, Adwan stepped out. He looked both defeated and unwilling to let go.

“Jelena, I admit it, alright? I give up. But who the hell is this man? Did you really have to use something like this just to spite me?”

I was speechless.

“Do I owe you an explanation? Don’t forget, we’re already divorced by agreement. Move your car, Adwan. Stop making a fool of yourself.”

As soon as the words left my mouth, his reddened eyes narrowed. He raised his fist, ready to lunge at Hollis.

Without thinking, I slapped him hard across the face.

Adwan froze in place.

In the five years we had been together, I had never once laid a hand on him.

His eyes filled with disbelief.

“You actually hit me—for another man?”

—

I met his gaze without flinching.

“Why couldn’t I? He’s family to me. But you… you mean nothing at all.”

That one short sentence seemed to pierce straight through his chest.
His eyes turned bloodshot.

“Jelena, we’ve been together for five years. Can’t you give me even
one more chance?”

“Anything you don’t like, I’ll change. I’ll change until you’re satisfied.”

I gave him a cold laugh.

“The person I don’t like is you. No amount of change will ever fix that.”

Adwan’s eyes shut in pain. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, his
phone rang.

On the other end, Megan’s tearful voice poured out.

“Adwan, there are a few thugs following me. I’m so scared.”

“I’m sorry about before, I really am. Please come and save me! They’re
about to catch up to me!”

Adwan snapped at the phone, his voice raw.

“Do you think I’ll fall for your pranks again? Haven’t you heard the
story of the boy who cried wolf?”

“If you dare call me one more time, don’t blame me for what happens
next!”

With that, he hung up.

—

Turning back to me, he looked almost pitiful, like a man begging for approval.

“See? I can’t stand Megan anymore. I’ll never fall for her tricks again. Isn’t this what you wanted?”

I shook my head, impatient.

“What I really want is to never see you again.”

With that, I pulled Hollis into the car.

Adwan quickly jumped back into his own car, tailing us closely.

The speed picked up, and Hollis made a sharp turn, finally shaking him off.

Sitting in the passenger seat, I exhaled in relief.

What I hadn’t expected was that half an hour later, the news broadcasted Adwan’s bloodied figure.

According to reports, his brakes had suddenly failed, sending both him and his car crashing into a bridge.

By the time the ambulance arrived, he was barely clinging to life.

Meanwhile, Megan wasn’t much better off.

When she had called Adwan, she really had been followed by thugs.

After he hung up, she was dragged into an alley.

When bystanders finally called the police, she was found lying on the ground in shambles, her mind completely broken.

—

I turned off my phone.

I no longer cared about either of them.

All I knew was that without Adwan and Megan, my life would finally be better.

Back at home, my uncle looped his arm around my neck and tugged me inside.

“Come on, let me show you what I can do. You’re not leaving the table until you finish an entire plate of barbecue.”

“I could eat a whole cow right now!”

Between the playful banter and laughter, the irises by the doorway swayed in the evening breeze, quietly blooming.
