Barren, Betrayed, But Backed By A Secret Billionaire Dad: I’ll Make Them Pay In Blood Chapter 03

When I opened my eyes again, the blinding white around me told me I was in the hospital.

The doctor scolded me.

“How could you be so careless? You just had an induced labor and still dared to run around? That’s completely irresponsible. From now on, you won’t be able to have children.”

That single sentence drained all the strength from me, and I collapsed back onto the bed.

It felt as if a hole had been torn in my chest, letting in gust after gust of icy wind.

Just then, a commotion rose outside the first-floor window.

Four or five police cars and fire trucks were parked outside, with rows of medical staff standing by as if waiting for a rescue.

Even the news alerts on my phone had picked it up.

[Jones Group’s CEO mobilizes the city’s resources to save his beloved girlfriend after a car accident!]

The nurses around me crowded at the window, gossiping with amusement.

“This is ridiculous. That woman was just knocked over by a baby stroller, and her husband panicked like it was life or death. She’s so annoying.”

“You don’t understand. Maybe her husband doesn’t see it that way. Who knows? Maybe this is just their little game as a couple.”

…

In the ward next door, Adwan, for once, actually lost his temper at Megan.

“Why didn’t you explain properly? I thought you had been in a serious car accident!”

Megan sat with puffed cheeks, pouting.

“Stupid Adwan, are you scolding me because I ruined your time alone with her? Is that why you’re mad at me?”

After a long silence, Adwan sighed in defeat.

“Foolish girl.”

“I’m not angry because you interrupted us, and I’m not angry that you weren’t clear. You have no idea how worried I was about you.”

As he spoke, the two of them clung to each other and cried.

Behind the wall, I felt like a cockroach hiding in a sewer, secretly peeking at the happiness that belonged to them.

And just moments ago…

When I had been told I would never bear children again, Adwan had once more softened because of Megan’s prank.

I pulled out the IV and fled like a deserter.

I hadn’t expected to run right into Adwan, who was on the phone.

“Jelena?”

In the next second, understanding lit his face.

“Throwing tantrums wasn’t enough? Now you’ve even followed us to the hospital?”

I clutched my medical file in secret. The truth lodged in my throat like a fishbone, stabbing me with sharp pain.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t force the words out.

“I might never…”

But before I could finish, a piercing scream shattered the air.

“Ah! Don’t come closer! I’ll call the police, I swear!”

“Megan!”

I rushed after him, only to see Megan’s room splashed with red paint everywhere.

[Give me back my child]

[Die, bitch]

[A life for a life]

Megan cowered on the bed, trembling. The moment she saw Adwan, she hurled herself into his arms.

“I was wrong, Adwan. I’ll never dare to provoke Jelena again, I swear…”

Several strangers in the room bowed obsequiously to Adwan.

“Mrs. Jones, just as you ordered, we’ve already dealt with that woman. What do you think? Are you satisfied?”

I frowned in confusion.

“I don’t even know—”

Before I could finish, a sudden slap exploded across my face.

Adwan’s chest rose and fell violently with rage.

“Well done, Jelena!”

“I treated you too kindly, and this is how you repay me—by doing something so vicious and heartless!”

“No wonder you showed up at the hospital!”

I stared at him in disbelief, my voice shaking.

“After everything, after all these times, you still choose to believe her?”

Adwan faltered for a brief second.

But the next moment, Megan burst into louder sobs and clung even tighter to his waist.
