After I Chose to Die, They All Regretted It Chapter 04

After I Chose to Die, They All Regretted It Chapter 04

Warm blood rushed out quickly.

Blood loss made the world spin under my feet.

As my vision darkened, I finally saw fear on those men’s faces.

Leon rushed over and caught me, roaring like a madman.

“Call the doctors! Get everyone from the private medical center here!”

When I opened my eyes again, I smelled the strong scent of disinfectant.

The endless white in front of me made my heart jump.

Had I succeeded?

Had I gone back?

But in the next second, I turned my head and met Victor’s bloodshot eyes.

I closed my eyes in irritation.

For the first time, his voice only annoyed me.

“Ivy, who taught you to pull a stunt like this just to get attention?”

I grew even more annoyed.

Something under my pillow was poking me.

I reached under it and pulled out an old St. Mary’s medallion.

When I was twelve, I had a high fever for a week that wouldn’t break. The private medical center issued three critical condition notices.

Nolan had climbed the thousand stone steps behind St. Mary’s Chapel on his knees to pray for this

blessed medallion for me.

That day, he held me and said that as long as he was alive, he would never let me leave him.

Later, Lydia got hurt, and Nolan took the medallion away and gave it to her.

Now, it had returned to my hand.

All I felt was disgust.

I raised my hand and threw it away.

Nolan happened to push the door open and saw the medallion fall to the floor.

He raised his head and stared at me.

“Ivy, you just threw it away?”

I frowned. My voice was calm.

“It’s dirty. I don’t want it anymore. Is that a problem?”

Nolan’s chest heaved. His eyes were full of pain and fury.

He suddenly stepped on the medallion and ground it under his shoe, then sneered.

“Ivy Grayson, we spoiled you until you became heartless.”

“No wonder Caleb would rather choose Lydia than you. You-”

“Nolan!”

Victor cut him off, his tone colder now.

Nolan’s eyes were red. He looked at me deeply, as if he wanted to find even a trace of sadness or regret on my face.

But all he saw was dead calm.

He shook with rage.

“This medallion belongs to Lydia. It was only lent to you to keep you alive. What right did you have to throw it away?”

I said calmly.

“I’ll pay her back.”

My calmness completely enraged him.

He pointed at me and shouted.

“Then go to the chapel right now and get her a new one.”

“One thousand stone steps. Miss even one, and it doesn’t count.”

Victor wanted to stop him, but Nolan silenced him with one look.

Clearly, he also thought this was a good chance to teach me to behave.

My wound wasn’t deep enough to kill me.

They were sure I was only putting on a show to get attention.

In the past, if I coughed once, they would nervously gather around me.

Now, my chest still hurt, but all they wanted was for me to learn my lesson.

I got out of bed without hesitation and went straight to St. Mary’s Chapel outside the city.

When I arrived, the sky suddenly began to rain.

The thousand stone steps were slick and freezing in the rain.

I knelt down without hesitation.

Did he really think climbing a thousand steps on his knees was so impressive?

I could do it too.

The wound in my chest pulled open in the rain. Sharp pain spread through my whole body.

But I acted like I couldn’t feel it.

Again and again, I told myself this was the last time.

I would treat it as paying Nolan back for the care he had once given me.

I did not know how long I climbed on my knees.

By the time I reached the top, I finally got a new St. Mary’s medallion from the chapel.

My whole body was soaked, and my head had begun to burn with fever.

When I pushed open the door of the Grayson estate, a lively celebration was taking place inside.

Lydia was surrounded by everyone, holding the trophy from the Ivy League Physics Invitational and smiling brightly.

My appearance instantly broke the joyful scene.

Victor was the first to frown and scold me.

“Ivy, look at yourself. Do you have even a shred of dignity left as a Grayson lady?”

Everyone’s eyes fell on me.

Contempt.

Impatience.

Disgust.

Everything was there.

Everything except concern.

This had once been the home I most wanted to return to.

But in that moment, standing at the door, I felt like an outsider who had stumbled into someone else’s party.

I ignored those looks and walked straight to Lydia.

I placed the medallion in her hand.

Lydia pulled back as if startled, but a flash of pride passed through her eyes.

“Ivy, please don’t be like this. I never blamed you.”

I didn’t bother watching her perform.

I turned and left.

Behind me came Victor and Nolan’s scolding.

I pretended I heard nothing.

I walked straight into my room in the West Wing and locked the door behind me.

Then I took out the blade I had prepared long ago from the drawer.

Without hesitation, I cut my wrist.

The moment blood surged out, I felt a peace I had never felt before.

Leon’s knocking came from outside the door.

“Ivy, open the door. It’s Leon. I need to talk to you.”

I was barely conscious and had no strength to answer.

Nolan’s impatient voice sounded.

“Leave her. She’s probably throwing another tantrum and pretending to be pitiful. You all spoiled

her until she turned out like this.”

In the past, if I forgot to cover myself with a blanket at night, he would stay by my side until

morning.

Now, with only a door between us, he couldn’t even stand waiting one more second.

Leon did not insist in the end.

Their footsteps slowly moved away.

I finally closed my eyes as I wished.

My soul floated lightly upward.

But just as it floated halfway into the air, the door was smashed open.

Victor rushed in with an ashen face, followed by Leon and Nolan.

“Ivy, what are you-

His voice stopped abruptly.

The floor covered in red filled their eyes.
