Cold wind sliced across my face, and weightlessness swallowed me.

I closed my eyes without fear.

There was only a strange kind of relief.

I was finally going to be free.

But the next second, someone grabbed me hard around the waist.

Leon threw himself out of the car and shielded me in his arms. The two of us rolled into the bushes beside the road.

Branches scratched his face and arms. Blood quickly soaked through his shirt.

But I was completely unharmed.

I looked up and met his terrified, bloodshot eyes.

My voice stayed calm.

“Let go.”

Leon stared at my indifferent face and roared, “I only scolded you a little! You jumped out of a car over that? We really spoiled you too much!”

“You did this to make us pay attention to you again, didn’t you?”

When I was little, if I fell even once, Leon would call every doctor in the house.

Now that I truly wanted to die, he only thought I was trying to steal attention.

I did not explain.

I pried his hand away, stood up, and looked around.

Soon, I saw a black SUV speeding toward us.

I raised my hand and pointed at it.

“I’m running into it myself. Make sure you pay the driver for the damage.”

Then I rushed straight toward the SUV.

“Ivy!”

Leon’s scream cracked.

I ran toward death with hope in my chest.

Even if I had to face my illness after returning to my original world, I would rather go back and die in my own world than stay here for one more second.

A sharp screech of brakes sounded.

The SUV somehow stopped just in time.

I staggered back a few steps and fell into Leon’s arms again.

“You’re crazy! Ivy, are you crazy?”

With red eyes, he trembled as he checked my face, shoulders, and arms.

“Did it hit you? Where does it hurt? Say something!”

I had failed again.

Disappointment filled my chest. I lowered my eyes.

My gaze fell on his leg. His pant leg was soaked in blood, and it was still dripping.

If this had happened in the past, I probably would have cried until I could not speak.

But now, I only looked away coldly.

“What, do I need your permission to die now?”

Leon froze in place.

I walked around him and toward the driver, who was shouting curses. My tone was very calm.

“I’ll have someone pay for the damage later.”

Leon clenched his fists. The corners of his eyes were red.

When I saw his expression, I suddenly realized something and added, “Don’t worry. I won’t use the Grayson family’s money. I’ll use my own.”

“Ivy!”

He finally could not stand it and interrupted me.

But somehow, I actually saw a trace of hurt on his face.

“You’re the only biological daughter of the Grayson family. Even if we handed you the whole Grayson estate, I wouldn’t even frown.”

I found it ridiculous.

“Really?”

His body trembled, as if he finally remembered.

In the eyes of outsiders, Lydia was Miss Grayson now.

And I, the true Grayson by blood, was just a crazy woman with a ruined reputation who always fought the adopted daughter for attention.

I laughed wildly, but tears still fell.

Leon and I had once been inseparable.

Even when he went to film sets as a movie star, he would bring me along. He said he only felt at ease when I was nearby.

But later, all he did was command me with a cold face.

“Let Lydia have her way in everything.”

Leon dragged me back into the car.

After the door closed, he lowered his head. His voice was hoarse.

“After Lydia wins the award, we’ll announce that you are the real Grayson daughter.”

“Everything before this was just a misunderstanding.”

I didn’t waste my breath.

I turned my head toward the window.

The street scenes slid past outside the window.

Before I was sent into this world, I was an orphan.

During a physical exam, I was diagnosed with late-stage bone cancer.

I lay in a hospital bed and passed out from the pain.

When I opened my eyes again, the system had sent me into this world. I had become a six-year-old child of the Grayson family.

After that, there was only a burst of noise.

I had almost thought it was all a hallucination.

But I really survived.

I got a healthy body.

I had once received real love from my brothers and Caleb.

As an orphan, I had been greedy for that kind of love.

I had even thought about giving up the mission and staying here.

Until Lydia appeared.

She was picked up from the streets by my brothers.

After she was brought home, all the tenderness became hers alone.

I went from acting spoiled, to getting angry, to crying, to falling apart.

In the end, all I got back was one sentence.

“Stop making a scene. Look at what you’ve become.”

The car stopped in front of the iron gates of the Grayson estate.

I shook off Leon’s hand and got out.

He called after me, stunned.

“Ivy, I’m injured. I got hurt because of you!”

I turned back without any expression.

“If you’re hurt, go see the family doctor. Why are you telling me?”
