After Divorce, I Sold Anti-Ex Cards—He Bought Ten Chapter 03

After Divorce, I Sold Anti-Ex Cards—He Bought Ten Chapter 03

I didn’t respond.

I felt like shoving a hot dog down his throat just to make him shut up.

But as soon as he left, the line exploded.

“Owner, was that really your ex?”

“He’s so hot, but he’s such a jerk.”

“Are there any combos left? I want one. I heard they’re lucky.”

“Can I pay an extra ten bucks to write my ex’s name on the card?”

The lady next door laughed so hard she nearly dropped her tea. “Sadie, you’re going viral.”

I looked down.

The girl from earlier had filmed the whole thing.

The title was already up.

Running a divorce-themed stall to help people exorcise their exes. Guess who just showed up and bought ten?

The comments were flying.

[The karma here is real. I’m living for this.]

[That look in the ex’s eyes—he’s not buying a combo, he’s buying a time machine.]

[The owner is savage. I love her.]

[Drop the location! I need to try this combo.]

The video went viral.

My heart skipped a beat.

My first reaction wasn’t excitement.

It was, Oh crap.

A guy like Julian cared about his reputation more than anything.

He hated being watched, hated losing control, and absolutely hated having his private life discussed by strangers.

In three years of marriage, his favorite line was always the same. “Sadie, don’t make a scene in public.”

I figured he’d be back soon, demanding I delete the video or using his connections to bury the story.

But he didn’t come back that night.

The next day, he showed up.

And he didn’t come alone.

Behind him were two familiar faces.

Chloe, his sister.

And Victoria, his mother.

I was busy squeezing ketchup onto a hot dog.

My hand froze for a second when I looked up and saw them.

Chloe blew up first.

“Sadie, have you no shame?”

The vendor row was packed. Her screech made everyone turn and stare.

I set the ketchup aside. “I’ve got enough shame, plus hot dogs and cola. Want a hot dog or a Coke?”

Chloe’s face turned beet red. “Stop acting dumb! You’re dragging my brother’s name through the mud online, making people laugh at him. Delete that video and issue a retraction right now!”

I nodded. “Retract what exactly?”

“Retract the lie that you’re selling this crap because of my brother. Just admit you’re pathetic, and that you’re only out here hawking junk because you couldn’t survive the divorce!”

Someone in the crowd gasped.

I wasn’t even angry.

It was strange.

Before the divorce, her words would have ruined my entire night.

Now, I just felt annoyed that she was wasting my time and costing me sales.

I stuffed a sausage into a bun. “You’re wrong about that.”

“I’m not running this stand because I’m pathetic.”

“I’m here because I didn’t spend a single cent of the allowance your brother gave me during our marriage.”

“And I didn’t take a dime from the divorce settlement, either.”

“Every cent I used to set this up came from my own savings. I’m selling my own products, and making an honest living.”

I bagged the hot dog and handed it to a customer.

“Still beats someone who’s been out of school for three years, living off her brother’s dime, and yet still has the nerve to look down on others, right?”

Chloe’s face went white.

“Sadie!”

Victoria finally spoke up.

She was the same as ever, hair pulled back without a single stray strand, looking at me like I was a stray cat that had dirtied her expensive rug.

“Sadie, the divorce is a private matter between the two of you. Making a scene like this… it’s not a good look for anyone.”

I chuckled. “Victoria, I’m just selling hot dogs. How is that making a scene?”

She frowned. “You know perfectly well that the name of those combos makes people think of Julian.”

“So what should I do?”

I picked up the menu and handed it to her.

“Should I rename it the ‘No More Mother in Law Drama’ instead?”
