After Discovering My Billionaire Parents Lied, I Vanished for Good Chapter 08

Garrett shrugged. “Fine. You want the truth? Here it is. At first, I didn’t know Aiden wasn’t mine.”

“That tough love plan? I meant every word. I wanted him to be strong enough to take over my company someday.”

His voice dropped. “Then I found out the truth. He’s not my son. He’s some other man’s bastard!”

“The only reason I kept up this act for years is that you stood by me during my roughest startup days.”

He walked to the bedroom and came back with a divorce settlement he’d already prepared long ago, slapping it on the table.

“Sign it. Sophie stays with me. You leave. You’ll get every penny you’re legally owed. Not a dime more.”

“Finding him is your problem now. I’m not wasting any more time on it. I’m done wasting my time. And don’t get your hopes up. I tried to track him down, but he vanished like a ghost.”

Elena’s tears wouldn’t stop. She stared at the man who’d loved her for over a decade.

Now he felt like a stranger.

Finally, she asked, “You’re so sure I cheated?”

Garrett’s eyes went cold. “What’s done can’t be hidden. The guy you slept with admitted it. Don’t bother lying.”

“Who?”

“Derek Miller.”

She let out a hollow laugh. “Let me guess… Vanessa told you that?”

“So what if she did? Derek confessed on his own. Stop playing the victim.”

Elena didn’t fight back. She was completely dead inside.

She signed the papers without even reading them.

“Garrett. You will regret this!”

She hurled the settlement at his face and walked out the door.

After the divorce, Elena went crazy looking for Aiden. Within a year, she started losing her grip on reality.

People told Garrett they saw his ex-wife on the streets, begging strangers for any trace of her son.

Garrett just smirked. “Serves her right.”

Vanessa curled up against him, syrupy sweet. “Honey, when will you grant our son his rightful shares?”

“He’s still young. When he’s eighteen.”

“You’re not planning to split with your daughter, are you? She’s been lashing out at me and Branson, saying we broke up her family. She even threatened to kick us out when she grows up.”

Garrett frowned. “Sophie said that?”

“She even tried to poison Branson with rat poison. The maid caught her just in time.”

His face went dark. “That vicious girl!”

“She’s not one of us, Garrett. She is her mother’s daughter through and through. Maybe… maybe you should send her away.”

He hesitated. But Vanessa kept crying, playing the victim. She curled into his side, her tears soaking into his shirt.

She talked about safety, about Branson’s future, about how Sophie would grow up to hate them and take everything.

He caved to her persuasion.
