After Amnesia, I Took Back Everything I Gave My Football Star Boyfriend Chapter 06

Caden had a much clearer grasp of the situation than his fans did.

“That’s what they want, not what I want.”

“Erin, I decide my own future!”

I almost laughed when I heard that.

The fans who attacked people online in his defense would probably be devastated if they heard him say it.

But after everything Nora had told me about the past, I knew I had once played the same role.

I knew how much it hurt to have sincere feelings treated like they meant nothing.

Caden continued.

“Erin, I know you haven’t abandoned me.”

“You just forgot me.”

“Can’t you at least try to remember what it felt like to love me?”

“This time, I swear I’ll do better than before.”

His voice turned deliberately coaxing.

But my wolf didn’t react at all.

I couldn’t be bothered to figure out how much of his vulnerability was genuine.

My personal trainer had already arrived.

I stood and walked toward the elevator, deciding to end things cleanly.

“There’s no reason for us to meet anymore.”

“Caden, I’ve always believed I had good judgment.”

“If the old me really loved you, then I assumed you must have been an intelligent man.”

“But judging by the way you’re acting today, I clearly overestimated both myself and you.”

The elevator doors opened, and I pressed the button for my private training floor.

“Life is long. I’m allowed to make mistakes.”

“Whatever made me chase after you in the past, there is one thing I can tell you with absolute certainty today.”

“We’re done.”

After that call, Caden never truly appeared in my life again.

Not because he stopped trying to contact me, but because I refused to let him.

I blocked his number and instructed security to put him on the do-not-admit list.

There had always been a huge gap between us in wealth, family background, and Pack rank.

The old me had simply been willing to sacrifice her dignity and genuine feelings to close that distance.

After losing my memory, I had even less interest in love.

Aside from the occasional nights when Nora and a few other friends dragged me out for drinks, I poured all my energy into my sports technology company.

The temperature dropped that weekend, so I went to Oak Street to look for a new coat and browse some of the new bags.

I never expected to run into Leon at the Hermès boutique.

He had just finished a commercial shoot, and a blonde woman with a striking figure stood beside him.

Over the years, Leon had collected almost as many dating rumors as touchdowns.

But this was the first time I had ever seen him shopping with a woman in person.

She was a well-known social media model who had risen to fame over the past two years and gained plenty of opportunities from rumors linking her to star athletes.

Leon spotted me immediately.

He had a strange ability to find me at once, no matter how many people were around.

Back in college, he had even managed to pick me out of an aerial photograph of a stadium packed with thousands of people.

When I asked him how, he only smiled and sent me an old love song.

Now, he waved at me as casually as ever.

“Erin, you’re shopping too?”

Normally, I never saw anything wrong with his smile.

But today, that perfect grin was strangely irritating.

I crossed the store in my heels and stopped in front of him.

The blonde woman clearly recognized me.

“Miss Winter.”

I nodded.

A sales associate soon led her into the private salon to look at some bags.

For some reason, irritation stirred inside me.

“Is she your new girlfriend?”

Leon leaned against the sofa, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

“Why do you ask?”

“Are you jealous?”

Leon walked over, rested a hand on my head, and gently stroked my hair.

The tender gesture made my long-silent wolf growl sharply.

I immediately forced myself to calm down before answering.

“Your mother has always wanted you to settle down.”

“Stop keeping so many women tangled up in rumors around you. Don’t disappoint your family.”

“Besides, that woman’s public image is terrible. Your taste in women is awful.”

Leon’s gaze darkened slightly. He said something, but the music playing in the store drowned out his voice.

“What did you say?”

He stood and tapped me on the forehead.

“I said, let’s have dinner tonight.”

I covered my forehead and glared at him.

“What about the woman you brought shopping?”

He shrugged.

“I’ve told you before.”

“Everyone else is just a rumor. Erin will always come first.”

It was not until a sleepless night much later that I suddenly remembered what he had said under his breath before the music drowned him out.

“You’re the one with terrible judgment.”
