Abandoned by My Four Dons: The Mafia Princess’s Revenge Chapter 06

I stood in the operating room, wrapped in the system’s cloaking veil, the one that made me

invisible.

I watched all four of them freeze.

Alessio staggered toward my body. His hand was shaking when he held his fingers under my nose.

There was nothing.

Every drop of color left his face.

“No… that’s not… Nina, don’t do this to me.”

He stared at the scalpel lodged in my chest. The best surgeon in New York, and for the first time in

his life, he had no idea what to do.

“Get the main trauma center ready!”

He started compressions, screaming over his shoulder at the others.

“We’re going to the hospital. Now! She needs emergency chest surgery. Right now!”

“Dario, the emergency medication you made for Nima. Where is it? Get it! Now!”

Rafe snapped out of it and bolted for the car with Matteo.

Dario’s legs gave out. He dropped to his knees.

His voice cracked. “Just now…” A sob tore through him. “I used all of it on Gianna…”

He hauled himself up and staggered to the med room to make another batch.

His hands wouldn’t stop shaking. Every vial he picked up slipped through his fingers and shattered

on the floor.

“Wrong. That’s wrong. I’m still missing one… what do I do…”

At the hospital, Dr. Ethan Whitman pressed two fingers to my neck and stopped mid–sentence.

“Her pupils are fixed and dilated. She’s…”

Alessio’s eyes were burning red.

“Shut up! If you won’t save her, then get out of my way!”

He choked back his tears, forced his hands steady, and cut into my chest to pull the scalpel free.

“Nina, hold on. I’m going to save you. I promise.”

Outside the operating room, Rafe turned to Matteo His eyes were raw.

“She’s going to be okay, right?”

“This is all your fault!”

Matteo’s fist connected with Rafe’s jaw before the last word was out.

“She put a blade in her own chest! Why? If you hadn’t been screwing around behind her back, would

she have done that?”

Rafe didn’t block. Didn’t move. He stood there and took every hit like he wanted the pain.

Dario came running from the lab, shoved a nurse aside, and injected the drug straight into my IV, all

of it in one push.

He turned to Alessio, desperate.

“Why isn’t it working? Why isn’t anything happening”

I stood there, invisible, watching all of it. And the strangest thing was, part of me almost wanted to

laugh.

Of course nothing was happening.

The girl on that table, Nina, was already dead.

Alessio didn’t answer. He just kept going, tears streaming down his face, hands pressing

rhythmically into a body that was already cold.

Like if he pushed hard enough, long enough, he could force the life back in.

They stayed in the operating room for five hours.

Until Ethan burst in and physically shoved Alessio off the table.

“Wake up! You’re all doctors. You know she’s gone!

Alessio went still. When he spoke, there was almost nothing left of his voice.

“Nina…”

Dario lunged at Alessio, fisting the front of his scrubs.

“This is on you!” he screamed. “If you hadn’t taken her heart, would any of this have happened?”

A howl ripped out of him. “Look at her face. Look how thin she got! How much pain was she in this

whole time, and we didn’t even see it?”

Alessio bared his teeth. “You want to talk blame? I told you to take some blood. I didn’t say drain

her until she wanted to die!”

They went at each other, fists flying, no one trying to stop.

Rafe and Matteo heard the commotion and ran in.

They saw the white sheet over my body, and both hit the floor, knees first, hard.

No one knew who broke first. A single tear hit the tile.

Then a second.

The sobbing started low, choked, barely held back, then it tore open. All four of them, heads in their

hands, breaking down.

Alessio’s phone rang.

The screen lit up. Gianna.

The second he picked up, she was already crying.

“Nina tried to scare me. She poured fake blood everywhere, splattered it all over the floor, and she

hit me, told me it was my fault she lost so much blood…”

“It hurts so much… Alessio, Matteo, Dario, where are you…”
