A Gift for the Don: I Aborted His True Love’s Heirs Chapter 09

I heard Julian grunt in pain. Tears instantly filled my eyes.

“Are you okay? Does it hurt?”

Julian had been ready to play up his injury, but the moment he saw I was about to cry, his expression softened immediately.

He pulled me gently into his arms. “I’m fine. Doesn’t even hurt.”

I cast one last cold glance at Damian, sprawled on the ground. Then I left with Julian.

Damian was covered in wounds. He looked utterly shattered.

But the physical pain was nothing compared to the agony tearing through his chest.

He watched me worry over Julian. Protect Julian. It felt like a knife ripping his heart open.

Only in that moment did Damian truly understand. He had lost me completely.

But even so, he still refused to accept it. He kept appearing. Kept trying to make amends. Kept trying to win me back.

A rare gemstone necklace from an auction.

An entire sea of roses he planted with his own hands.

He even carved my name into his own chest. A permanent scar.

But no matter what he did, I was unmoved.

Julian and I were already planning the wedding. I had wanted to wait a little longer, but Julian refused to delay a single day.

“I want to be with you as soon as possible,” he said.

I said yes.

Damian came the moment he heard the news.

“Audrey, I know I was wrong. I’m begging you. Don’t marry him.”

His eyes were red. Tears fell and hit the ground.

“I’ve cut all ties with Nina. From here on out, you’re the only one.”

“I know you can’t stand her. I’ve already run her out of New York. She’ll never show her face around you again.”

“Anyone you don’t like. I’ll make them all disappear.”

“Audrey…”

I looked at him. “Then why don’t you disappear?”

Damian stumbled backward. His already gaunt face turned ashen.

I didn’t want to revisit the past. But every time Damian appeared, he forced me to relive it.

“I know. I was the one who wanted to marry you in the beginning. I’m the one who pushed the Santoro family to propose the union. But Damian, if you truly didn’t want to be with me, why didn’t you refuse?”

“Once the Falcone family got back on its feet, you went straight after my family. Are you seriously going to tell me the Santoros falling apart had nothing to do with you?”

“I was such a fool. I didn’t notice any of it.”

“And you knew how badly I wanted those babies. How much I was counting on raising them. But they weren’t even mine.”

“You made me carry a litter of your mistress’s kids!”

“Damian Falcone. How dare you!”

I stared at him. I laid out every betrayal. Every cruelty. One by one. I watched the color drain completely from his face.

Julian arrived just then. I saw him step toward Damian.

Damian reached for me one last time. But he stopped just before touching me.

I took Julian’s hand and left without looking back.

I didn’t hear Damian whisper behind me.

“I’m sorry… I’m truly sorry…”

Later that day, after a negotiation, he left alone.

The next day, his car was found beneath the cliffside highway.

When they found Damian, his hand was still clenched tight around the necklace I used to wear.

The chain was soaked in blood. Its original color was barely visible.

I felt nothing when I heard the news. To me, he’s just a stranger now.

A week later, Julian and I held our grand wedding on an island.

Surrounded by everyone’s blessings, Julian slipped the ring onto my finger with his own hands.

This time, I’m not anyone’s tool.

I am a wife who is chosen. Respected. Cherished.
