A Gift for the Don: I Aborted His True Love’s Heirs Chapter 06

Damian’s palm cracked across her face. His voice shook. “She was my wife. Show some respect!”

Nina clutched her cheek, shrieking. “Now you admit she’s your wife? She was nothing but a walking womb!”

The family men rushed to intervene. “Don, we were just mourning the children. How could Audrey have been attacked so suddenly?”

Damian stared at the note in his hand. Then he suddenly seized one man by the throat.

“How did Audrey find out the truth about the children? Was it you idiots who posted that video in the family group chat?”

He shoved everyone aside and lunged at Luca, who was trembling. It was Luca who had uploaded the intimate video of Damian and Nina to the family network the night before.

“Talk!” Damian’s hands tightened around his throat. “Who told you to post it?”

Luca’s face turned purple. “It was… Nina told me to…”

He didn’t finish. Damian’s fist smashed into his face.

Blood gushed from his nose instantly.

Nina screamed and stumbled back in terror.

“Damian, have you lost your mind?!”

“You all deserve to die!” Damian turned and grabbed another man.

“You used her as a tool. I used her as a tool. And now she’s dead. We all deserve to die!”

His fists rained down like a storm. Luca curled on the ground, shielding his head. The others scattered in panic.

Nina cowered in the corner, watching Damian spiral further and further out of control. Finally, she couldn’t hold back her scream.

“Enough! She was just a surrogate! Is she really worth losing your mind over?!”

Damian whipped his head toward her. His eyes were hollow and dead. “What did you say?”

“I said she deserved it!” Nina stamped her foot. “If she hadn’t destroyed the children, my treatment—”

“Shut up!” Damian lunged and seized her throat.

“This is all on you! You swore surrogacy was airtight! You said she’d never find out those kids weren’t hers!”

Nina’s face went white. She struggled, pointing at the preserved remains.

“And what about you? Didn’t you want to use those children to save me? Now she’s dead. What about my disease?!”

Damian released her. He stumbled backward.

He suddenly remembered. Audrey, three months pregnant, touching her belly and asking him, “Do you think the children will like the clothes I make for them?”

Back then, he found her annoying.

Now, he would trade everything to hear that gentle voice again.

And then Damian remembered. It was him.

He was the one who forced her to carry these children in the first place.

Because Nina said childbirth was painful. Her disease was painful. So Damian thought of me.

Because I was never afraid of pain.

Damian’s hands dropped limply to his sides. His eyes were hollow and dead.

Nina laughed coldly. She tore away the last shred of his dignity.

“Damian Falcone, stop pretending. Weren’t you the one who hated her for ‘forcing’ you into this marriage? You kept her on birth control for three years. That’s what ruined her fertility.”

“You’re the one who tricked her into surrogacy. Turned her into my bone marrow matching bank. And now that she’s dead, you suddenly want to play the grieving lover?”

Damian’s head snapped up. Three years of cruel memories came crashing back.

The contraceptive injections that destroyed her uterus. He told her they were “nutritional supplements.”

During their honeymoon, he had his private doctor perform the IVF procedure while Audrey was under anesthesia. Then he secretly laced her food with fertility hormones every single day.

Listening to the family mock her as a “walking womb.” He never once defended her.

Belated guilt slammed into him like a tidal wave.

Only in this moment did Damian finally realize what he had truly done to Audrey all these years.

But regret that came too late meant nothing.

After that, Damian spiraled into self-destructive collapse.

He still couldn’t accept that I was dead. He tore through docks, hospitals, airports, border crossings. Searching for me like a madman.

He even got his hands on the attack footage.

He couldn’t finish watching it. He had to shut it off.

For days, he drank himself unconscious in the empty estate. Sometimes he wandered into the nursery and sobbed over the things I had prepared by hand.

Then he started watching the attack video over and over. As if torturing himself.

And that’s when he noticed something wrong.
