A CEO With An Impossible Libido Chapter 08

The drug-like effect tormented me, and my resolve wavered slightly.

But reason won in the end.

Right now, I was the best test subject.

I wanted to see whether that dose could neutralize the effect of the Succubus Vine.

Julian helping me would only treat the symptoms, not the cause.

Besides, I had my own boundaries when it came to intimacy.

Since he had already touched another woman, I would no longer consider letting him help me.

I sighed and shook my head.

“The injection is part of the experiment too. I don’t need your help.”

The moment the needle entered my skin, the comments flooded in.

[When she gets ruthless, she uses herself as a lab rat.]

[This is crazy. She’s basically a mad scientist.]

[Who spends all day in a lab and doesn’t go a little insane?]

[Can someone please care about our male lead?]

[Julian has been locked outside the lab, and his eyes are terrifyingly dark.]

After Nathan administered the injection, he went to the monitoring room next door to observe my reactions remotely.

If I experienced any adverse symptoms, he would rush in and ensure my safety.

The long, unbearable night finally passed.

The dose contained a compound that could suppress the Succubus Vine’s effect, but it wasn’t enough to fully neutralize it.

It still needed to be blended with other botanical agents.

That slight suppression was nowhere near enough to ease my discomfort.

I gritted my teeth through the entire night.

Fortunately, after the effect raged through me all night, it finally receded temporarily at dawn.

When I came out of the lab, I saw Julian leaning at the end of the corridor.

He strode toward me and looked me over.

“Are you okay? Did the experiment succeed?”

“There was a breakthrough, but it hasn’t fully worked yet.”

I paused, then added, “I’m fine now. I want to go back to the cabin and catch up on sleep.”

The moment I finished speaking, Julian swept me up in his arms and walked quickly toward the cabin.

Last night, he had stayed outside the lab all night.

His neck and face were covered in mosquito bites.

But none of them were as glaring as the lipstick mark on his neck.

When he placed me on the bed, I said softly, “Go out and close the door behind you.”

“I’m not leaving.”

Julian understood that I was trying to send him away.

His tone softened.

“I’ll catch some sleep in the car. Call me anytime if you need anything.”

“Okay.”

I closed my eyes.

Julian pulled the curtains shut, blocking the light from outside.

I thought of the past three years.

Julian had waited for me in this cabin countless times.

I would leave the lab at dawn, push open the door, and see him lying quietly and alone on the bed.

Sometimes, I would make it up to him.

Sometimes, I was too exhausted, so I only gave him a good-morning kiss.

He never complained. He would hold me and sleep with me a little longer.

But his hand never left my waist for even a second.

His possessiveness was so strong it felt like he wanted to hold me so close I disappeared into him.

Yet he had no choice but to restrain himself.

A moment later, I heard Julian close the door behind him.

My chest ached.

How had we reached this point, step by step?

Drowsiness took over, and I sank into sleep.

After being pricked once by the Succubus Vine, I developed the same dependency.

I wanted to prick myself with the thorn again.

Fortunately, my willpower was still strong enough, and I controlled myself.

Someone came to mind.

The comments said Ivy had Succubus Syndrome.

I suspected her Succubus Syndrome was connected to the Succubus Vine.

That weekend, I came down from the mountains and called Ivy.

“Hello, Ivy. This is Vivian.”

“Do you have time to meet? I need to ask you something.”
