I pushed the thickest original ledger toward Sloane. “Read it yourself.”

She didn’t move.

My voice turned cold. “Sloane. Read.”

Finally, she reached out and opened it.

The first page was enough to drain the color from her face.

I raised her to be many things.

Blind at home, maybe. But never blind with numbers.

She flipped faster and faster. “Duplicate approval numbers used repeatedly.”

“E–signature timestamps at three in the morning. Sienna was in her dorm that night. Surveillance records

confirm she wasn’t home.”

“This consulting firm’s payment trail loops through three layers before landing in Julian’s private investment

account.”

“The London flat is labeled as Sienna’s educational support, but the only lease and occupancy records are

under Cole.”

With every sentence, Julian’s face turned a shade grayer.

Cole spoke up. “Mom, calm down.”

Sloane’s head snapped up. “Shut up.”

Cole froze. It was the first time she’d ever spoken to him like that.

Sloane looked at Sienna.

Her mouth opened. “Sienna. Why didn’t you tell me?”

Sienna didn’t smile. Didn’t cry.

Just set her spoon down. “I did.”

The blood drained from Sloane’s face completely.

She was remembering now.

One birthday, Sienna called to say her card wasn’t working.

Sloane was in the middle of a financing round. All she said was, “Go ask your dad.”

Another time, Sienna waited for her outside the office with a stack of payment notices.

Sloane got angry that she’d made a scene at the company and sent her home in a car.

After that, Sienna stopped talking.

She grew distant. Then defiant. And finally, she hardened into the “ungrateful brat” everyone called her.

I looked at my daughter and felt no pity.

“She told you.”

“You didn’t listen.”

Sloane’s eyes reddened. But she didn’t have the right to cry.

She turned to Julian. “When did this start?”

Julian stayed silent.

Sloane’s voice went steel. “I asked you a question. When did you start touching her money?”

Julian finally dropped the gentle act.

He said quietly, “Sloane, I wasn’t touching her money.”

“I was making arrangements for this family.”

“Cole is exceptional. The Kensingtons need a next generation to lead.”

“And Sienna? She’s average. Difficult. You really want to pour resources into her?”

Sloane slapped him.

The crack echoed through the dining room.

Julian’s head snapped to the side. He didn’t move for a long moment.

Cole shouted, “Mom!”

Sloane looked at both of them, her voice shaking.

“You used her money. Destroyed her reputation. And now you tell me she doesn’t deserve it?”

“Julian, what do you take me for?”

Julian’s eyes finally showed something ugly.

“I’ve been the good little house husband for over twenty years. Who the hell out there respects me?”

“Everything in this family is Kensington. The kids carry Kensington. Even my own son carries your name.”

“I’ve given everything to this family, and I can’t even allocate a few resources?”

I laughed coldly. “If it weren’t for me, you’d still be rotting in some basement apartment. I’m the one who

pulled you out of that hole–and now you actually think you’re somebody?”

I tapped my cane against the floor. “Sloane. Time to make your choice.”

She looked at me.

I said calmly, “You want to protect him? Fine. I’ll invoke the trust protector clause.”

“You keep your CEO title. But every future right and voting share in this family skips past any man in your

household.”

“You want to protect Sienna? Then cut this disease out of your house yourself.”

Sloane closed her eyes.

When she opened them again, her expression had shifted.

She closed her laptop.

“Shaw. Draft the divorce papers.”

“File for Sienna’s personal asset protection and custody modification immediately.”

“Freeze every access point connected to Julian under the Kensington name effective tonight.”
