At My Mother’s Funeral, I Was Divorced by the Mafia King Chapter 08

I tried to shake him off.

But he held me tightly.

“Sylvia, I’m not letting you leave this time.”

“Come home with me.”

There was madness burning inside Lucien’s eyes.

He dragged me forward forcefully.

Just then-

A figure suddenly rushed over and tore Lucien’s hand away from me.

Then carefully pulled me into his arms.

“You okay?”

I looked up into his strikingly charming eyes and smiled.

“I’m fine.”

He looked at me with obvious guilt.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have let you come here.”

The man standing in front of me was Nico Valenti.

He was the one who took me away six months ago.

Back then, my mother had helped more than just Lucien.

Nico was one of the students my mother and I had sponsored.

From middle school through college, my mother wrote him a letter every single month.

And every letter ended the same way.

“Study hard. Donna and I are waiting for you here.”

By the time Nico received the final letter, he was overseas involved in a secluded

research project.

When he rushed back-

The gravestone had already been erected.

Before leaving, he handed me a business card.

There was only a name and a phone number printed on it.

“Sylvia.”

“If you ever need anything, call me.”

“No matter when.”

When I took the card, his hand had been trembling.

Only later did I learn-

He was the founder of S Group.

At eighteen, he won a full scholarship overseas.

At twenty, he started his first company.

At twenty-three, S Group’s valuation surpassed ten billion dollars.

Every dollar my mother and I had ever sent him for tuition or living expenses-

He recorded carefully in a notebook.

And beside every entry, he wrote the exact same sentence.

“One day, I’ll repay this tenfold.”

And long before I found out—

Nico had already known about Lucien and Raven.

He had dropped subtle hints before.

But at the time, I was drowning in grief over my mother’s death and never thought

deeply about it.

Afterward, he brought me overseas for a while.

During that time, he taught me business management.

Taught me how companies operated.

And showed me an entirely new world.

One month ago, we returned home.

Then he appointed me as the general manager of this project.

Neither of us expected Lucien to end up being one of S Group’s business partners.

When Lucien requested a face-to-face meeting, Nico originally wanted someone else to

handle it.

I refused.

Running away solved nothing.

After all-

I wasn’t the one who did something wrong.

So what did I have to fear?

Even so, Nico still worried about me.

He had been watching us the entire time.

Until just now.

And the moment Lucien saw another man holding me in his arms—

fumed with jealousy.

“Who the hell said you could touch my wife?”

“Let her go!”

He stormed forward to yank Nico away from me.

But Nico shoved him back effortlessly.

Then looked at him coldly.

“Sir, I think confusion is getting to your head.”

“If I remember correctly…”

“Your wife should be Raven Ferraro.”

“You-”

Lucien couldn’t argue back.

So instead, he turned toward me desperately.

“Sylvia, didn’t we agree on this already?”

“My marriage to Raven was only temporary.”

“Now that you’re back, I’ll divorce her immediately.”

“Then we’ll remarry.”

When I stayed silent, he hurriedly continued-

“If you’re worried about the child, don’t be.”

“I’ll get rid of the child.”

“Then it’ll be just the two of us again.”

“Exactly like before.”

“Come home with me, okay?”

I stared at him like he was insane.

“Lucien.”

“You killed my two children.”

“And stole my ability to ever become a mother again.”

“And somehow…”

‘…you still think I could forgive you?”

Shock exploded across Lucien’s face.

“You…”

“How do you know about that?”

I glanced at him coldly.

Then grabbed Nico’s hand and turned to leave.

“If you don’t want people finding out what you’ve done…”

“Then don’t do evil things in the first place.”

“Take care of yourself, Lucien.”

Lucien watched my back silently.

In the end, he didn’t chase after me.

What he couldn’t understand was-

How had I found out about the surgery?

Suddenly, something flashed through his mind.

A vicious look filled his eyes instantly.

“Raven.”
