At My Mother’s Funeral, I Was Divorced by the Mafia King Chapter 07

Lucien stood alone in the hallway.

The motion-sensor lights flickered on and off around him.

He didn’t know how long he’d been standing there until his phone suddenly rang.

“Don Ferraro, we found out where Donna—”

Lucien’s low voice echoed through the hallway.

“Donna left shortly after you went to pick Raven up.”

“She got into a black sedan and disappeared.”

“What?”

“Find that car immediately.”

“I want the owner’s identity now.”

Lucien nearly crushed the phone in his hand.

“Sylvia…”

“So you planned all of this from the beginning.”

No wonder she signed the divorce papers so easily.

No fight over assets.

No screaming.

No tears.

Not even an extra word.

He truly thought Sylvia loved him so much that as long as she could stay beside him,

she’d accept anything.

Turns out-

She had already planned to leave.

A cold laugh escaped his throat.

“Just wait.”

“No matter where you run…”

“I’ll find you.”

Half a year passed in the blink of an eye.

And for those six months, Lucien searched for me like a madman.

He used every connection he had.

Yet I had vanished completely.

Even the black car left behind no trace.

That day happened to be the day of Raven’s expected date of confinement (EDC).

She called Lucien, begging him to stay with her during labor.

But Lucien only answered coldly-

“The company is at a critical juncture, and I can’t get away.”

Then hung up immediately.

The hatred in Raven’s eyes finally became impossible to hide.

She screamed in agony inside the hospital room.

But Lucien hadn’t lied.

He really was busy.

A major partnership deal had recently collapsed.

And this deal would determine whether his company survived.

So he decided to meet the prospective partner personally.

After having his secretary arrange everything, he straightened his suit and left.

When he arrived at the meeting location, he ordered a coffee and waited.

Ten minutes later

—-

The sound of high heels approached from behind.

Lucien immediately stood to greet the other party.

But after seeing the person’s face-

He froze completely.

“Sylvia?”

“How is this possible?”

I gave him a polite smile.

“Long time no see, Mr. Ferraro.”

Lucien stood there stiffly.

Mouth slightly open.

Staring at me in disbelief.

I walked over and slowly sat down across from him.

“Weren’t you here to discuss business?”

Only then did he finally snap out of it.

He sat down too, eyes locked on me without blinking.

“Sylvia, what’s going on?”

“Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you?”

“I know.”

I answered calmly.

“You know?”

“Then why didn’t you show yourself?”

Annoyance appeared in Lucien’s eyes.

I raised a brow slightly, a trace of mockery in my smile.

“Do I have any obligation to?”

“Mr. Ferraro, don’t forget.”

“We no longer have any relationship whatsoever.”

Lucien was instantly left speechless.

After a moment, he finally forced out another question.

“Then why are you here?”

I let out a small laugh and stood up.

“Sorry, but I’m not here to reminisce about the past with you.”

“If you’re not discussing the partnership, then I have other things to do.”

“I’ll be leaving now.”

Lucien immediately grabbed my arm.

“You’re here for the deal?”

“You work for S Group?”

I nodded casually.

Lucien looked like he still had countless questions.

But I cut him off first.

“I already said my time is limited.”

“I’m not here to waste it on personal matters.”

“Sylvia, wait.”

“I’ll discuss the deal.”

I glanced at the hand gripping my arm with obvious disgust.

Lucien noticed instantly and awkwardly released me.

Then he hurriedly pulled out the proposal documents.

“Sylvia, you know the state my company’s in.”

“If this partnership fails, Ferraro Group is finished.”

“I don’t know what position you hold at S Group…”

“But I hope you can advocate on my behalf to S Group.”

I ignored him completely.

Instead, I lowered my head and carefully reviewed the proposal.

Half an hour later, I pushed the documents back toward him.

“Sorry.”

“I don’t think this partnership is going to work.”

Lucien frowned tightly.

“Why?”

“This proposal has nothing innovative about it.”

“The information is outdated.”

“It doesn’t fit S Group’s current direction.”

I stood up calmly.

Then patiently explained-

“I have another meeting to attend.”

“I’ll take my leave now.”

But the second I turned around-

Lucien grabbed me again.

This time, his voice no longer carried pleading.

It was that familiar tone I had listened to for five years.

Heavy with anger.

Cold and commanding.

“Sylvia.”

“What kind of asinine reason is that?”

“You’re just taking revenge on me, aren’t you?”
