They Called Me a Spoiled Princess, My Eight Brothers Arrived by Helicopter Chapter 04

The first class on the following afternoon was P.E.

The P.E. teacher blew the whistle: “First, run two laps around the field to warm up!”

I stepped out of the line, holding my P.E. waiver, and walked up to the P.E. teacher.

“Teacher, my stomach hurts, I’d like to request a leave.”

The P.E. teacher was about to reach for it.

Suddenly, a hand reached out from the side and snatched my P.E. waiver away.

It was Madeline Vance.

She nodded to the P.E. teacher: “Mr. Wang, I’m assisting with the management of this class’s P.E. session.”

After saying that, she looked at my P.E. waiver and rejected it immediately.

“Period? A period isn’t an illness. Leave denied.”

I stood my ground: “Ms. Vance, my stomach really does hurt.”

She gave a cold laugh and mocked me.

“Hurt?”

“You seemed to have plenty of energy when you were talking to those boys during the break.”

She looked me up and down.

“Jewel St. Claire, do you think the whole world should revolve around you?”

“Whining about a P.E. class—who’s going to coddle you once you’re out in the real world?”

“Besides, with such a weak constitution, how are you going to serve your husband and men once you’re married?”

As soon as those words came out, the air went silent.

A few boys in the front let out suppressed snickers.

The girl next to me frowned in anger.

“Teacher, how can you say such a thing…”

“That’s going too far, you’re trying to control everything down to whether someone gets married or not?”

I looked up at her: “Ms. Vance, my stomach hurting has nothing to do with getting married.”

“I’m just not feeling well right now and I can’t run.”

Madeline Vance’s face turned completely cold.

“If you call me ‘Teacher,’ then don’t talk back to me!”

“This act of acting spoiled and cute—I’m a woman too, I can see right through it!”

Madeline Vance suddenly reached out and grabbed my wrist with surprising force.

She dragged me directly toward the track.

“Let go of me!” I struggled, but couldn’t break free.

“Let go? So you can be lazy? Get running!” She didn’t let go and dragged me to the edge of the track.

I didn’t want to be dragged around like this in front of the whole class, so I could only shake off her hand and join the end of the line.

Madeline Vance stood on the inside of the track, arms crossed, staring me down.

I ran very slowly, every step causing a dull ache in my lower abdomen. I quickly fell behind.

Madeline Vance’s mocking voice drifted across half the field.

“Run faster! You’re the slowest one!”

Finally, I truly couldn’t run anymore. I bent over, clutching my stomach and gasping for air.

Madeline Vance walked up to me and looked down at me.

“I said your constitution was weak, and you still had the nerve to be defiant. Keep running.”

I looked up, my eyes hot and red, stubbornly refusing to let the tears fall.

“I can’t run anymore.”

Seeing my reddened eyes, she didn’t soften at all; instead, she rolled her eyes.

“Don’t play the victim in front of me! You act like this at school for teachers, and later you’ll do it for men!”

“I’m telling you, if you don’t finish, you’re staying after school to keep running until I’m satisfied!”

Some students who had finished running were standing in the distance watching us, whispering.

“Her face is so pale, she looks like she’s really suffering.”

“Ms. Vance is being too harsh, it’s just a leave request, isn’t it?”

My desk-mate clutched a bottle of mineral water, pacing anxiously, wanting to come over but not daring to.

My legs felt weak, and cold sweat was pouring down.

Madeline Vance’s voice was still noisy in my ears, but I could no longer hear what she was saying.

Only one thought remained in my mind.

My brothers said I am the princess of the St. Claire family and don’t need to suffer one bit of hardship outside.

All the grievances on this field today, and those nasty words, are not things I should have to endure.

Why should I have to suffer this?

I took out my phone; I was going to call my brother.
