The Hypnotized Stand-In Has Awakened—the True Heiress Is Terrified Chapter 11

Moments later, the police arrived.

Blair was restrained on the spot, still thrashing wildly.

“Elise! Adrian only wants your face! The moment he gets

bored of you, you’ll end up worse than me!”

“You think you’ve won?”

“When I get out, I’ll make you regret this!”

I leaned in close to her ear and whispered, “What makes you think you can?”

Blair was held down by two officers. Her eyes were red and terrifying, yet she still refused to submit.

She stared at me fiercely, her voice trembling but sharp.

“Because I have hypnotic manipulation.”

“Because I can get the best lawyers to defend me for free.”

“Because anytime I want to make your life a living hell–I

can!”

I looked at her. And slowly smiled.

“Are you sure… you still have hypnotic manipulation?”

Blair’s expression changed instantly.

Panic flashed through her face. Instinctively, she tried to focus

again, locking her gaze onto mine.

“Elise-” She didn’t get to finish.

She suddenly let out a piercing scream, both hands flying up to cover her eyes.

Blood, bright and shocking, seeped through her fingers and slid down her cheeks.

“Ah–!!! My eyes! My eyes!!”

“Elise, you bitch! What did you do to me?!”

She screamed, her voice so sharp it sounded terrible.

“Take me to the hospital! I can’t see… I can’t see anything…”

It wasn’t until they shoved her into the police car that her shrill shrieking was finally sealed behind the slam of the door.

The world fell silent.

I let out a slow breath. The tension that had been coiled in my shoulders for so long finally loosened.

But then, a coat, still carrying body heat, was draped over my

shoulders.

I froze and turned around.

Adrian was standing behind me. He adjusted the coat around me gently. “You cold?”

I blinked. “I’m okay.”

“Liar.” His tone was calm.

“Next time you set a trap, tell me in advance. I don’t like my girlfriend turning herself into bait.”

That sentence was too light. Yet it made my heart tighten

more than any confession ever could.

I forced myself to stay calm. “Mr. Whitmore, we’re just in an

online relationship.”

Adrian looked at me. Then suddenly leaned down.

He was so close now that I could see my own reflection in the

dark of his eyes.

“So… does this count as our dating now?”

Something fluttered in my chest. I said, “Adrian. I actually

used you…”

Before I could finish, he raised a hand and gently stopped me.

“Elise, you don’t need to explain.”

“You can keep your guard up. Keep testing me. Keep using me,

even.”

“I’ll be here. Waiting. You can take your time.”

“As long as, in the end, you’re the one walking toward me-

that’s all I need.”

The coat on my shoulders was still warm with his body heat.

I looked down at my hand, resting in his–so small against his palm. And murmured, “Mm.”
