The Hypnotized Stand-In Has Awakened—the True Heiress Is Terrified Chapter 12

The Hypnotized Stand-In Has Awakened—the True Heiress Is Terrified Chapter 12

I thought things with Blair were finally over.

Fraud, embezzlement, and solid evidence. At the very least,

she would get three years in prison.

And without her hypnotic manipulation, she had no cards left

to play.

Life finally returned to normal.

I went to class, tutored Mason–the days passed quietly, so

steady they almost didn’t feel real.

Until that night. I had just finished Mason’s lesson.

He was sprawled over the desk, chewing on his pen cap while working through problems, muttering to himself.

“Don’t worry. I’m definitely getting a high score on math this

time.”

I smiled slightly, just about to respond.

Then there was a knock at the door. It was Adrian.

I closed my book and followed him into the study next door.

“Elise, Blair has been released on bail.”

I paused. “Who posted her bail?”

“Jason.”

That name—I knew it well. Jason’s the youngest son of the Donovan family in the old money elite circle.

In the original story, he had once been Blair’s most loyal follower.

He bought her cars, houses, and resources without hesitation.

She had once tricked him into standing in the rain for hours with just a single sentence.

To get back at people who’d crossed her, he’d forced them out of school.

Even after she married the male lead, he’d stood there smiling, wishing her every happiness.

At that time, he was still wearing a hair tie she had casually thrown to him on his wrist.

I frowned. “But Blair can’t hypnotize people anymore.”

“Everyone she controlled should already be back to normal.”

“Why would Jason still help her?”

Adrian looked at me. Then he suddenly smiled.

The expression was faint, but cold enough to make the air feel

sharper.

“He’s not helping her.”

“Then why?”

“He thinks prison would be letting her off way too easy.”

Adrian gently pulled me to the sofa and sat me down beside

him.

But he didn’t let go of my hand. His thumb traced slowly over

the back of my hand, steady and unhurried.

“Jason has remembered everything now. Every ridiculous thing he did for Blair.”

“How she’d ordered him around. Stepped on his dignity just

for her amusement.”

“Brainwashed into believing he couldn’t survive without her.”

Adrian’s voice stayed even. “The Donovan family is different

from the Whitmore family.”

“The Whitmores operate in the open. The Donovans used to

have underworld ties.”

I looked up at him.

He lifted a hand and tucked a loose strand of hair behind my

ear.

“Jason has already found the best doctors. Her eyesight’s been

restored.”

“But very soon, Blair will understand something.”

“Agreeing to his bail… was the most regrettable decision of her entire life.”
