Blair froze. She looked around wildly, only now registering that every pair of eyes was fixed on her. 

“Miss Vance.” Adrian’s voice was calm. But every word landed like a blow. 

“What were you doing just now?” 

Blair said, her voice frantic, “I… I was just making her tell the 

truth.” 

“The truth?” Adrian’s gaze frosted over. “By locking eyes with her and forcing her to parrot back your words?” 

“Or is that how you usually operate too? Making her believe 

she’s ugly, stupid, and unworthy of being liked?” 

Blair shouted. “I didn’t! I didn’t use hypnotic manipulation on 

her!” 

Adrian’s expression darkened completely. “Nate. How long till the police get here?” 

Nate’s expression was grave. “They’re already at the campus 

gate.” 

“Also, over the past two months, Miss Harrington transferred 

over four million dollars to Blair. We’ve pulled the full 

transaction history.” 

The crowd erupted again. 

“She just outed herself! Mr. Whitmore never even said the 

word ‘hypnosis‘–she’s the one who blurted it out!” 

“So it’s fraud and identity theft?” 

“And she still had the nerve to say Elise was stealing a man? That’s hilarious. Who’s actually stealing who?” 

“So gross. I always knew she was shady, but I never thought 

she’d be this toxic.” 

“Forget all that isn’t this actually terrifying? Blair can literally hypnotize people!” 

“They need to lock her up and run some tests on her or something!” 

Blair snapped her head up. 

“You don’t know anything! She gave it to me willingly! She 

owed me!” 

“Without my face, how could she have gotten close to Mr. Whitmore? That money was originally given to me by him!” 

Adrian let out a low, mocking laugh. “Miss Vance, you seem to be mistaken about something.” 

“I never transferred a single cent because of a face.” 

“It was for the person I valued. The one I chose.” 

“As for what she looks like… As long as it’s her, it doesn’t 

matter.” 

“But if it’s not her… She could have the face of a goddess, but 

in my eyes–she’d still be ugly.” 

His gaze turned sharp as he looked Blair up and down. 

“And one more thing. You’re genuinely ugly.”
